accident prone guy installing his first mod....the FTSB
#1
I got my Courtesy FSTB about two weeks ago and i just got around to buying all the necessary tools for the installation.......just one problem. I suck at this type of thing but I want to be the one to install it. Got any tips or advice? I understand most of the directions but when they say to "turn the bar unit" to adjust the length of the bar, how tight should I be doing it? does it even matter?

Okay here are the main steps (probably written down somewhere else in here, you may want to use the search function).
1. Remove the 6 bolts (3 on each shock tower).
2. Remove the metal gaskets off each shock tower.
3. Place the bar on the shock tower.
4. Put the bolts back on and tighten to spec (35 ft/lbs I believe... double check it).
5. Then tighten the center part of the bar as much as possible (using the two nuts on either side of the center piece). If it has any play at all it won't be a "brace".

I believe what the instructions are referring to is adjusting the bar length so that the two flanges that bolt up to the strut towers are spaced the correct distance apart. I would recommend removing all 6 bolts, placing one side of the brace on a strut tower and then turning the center part of the bar until the other flange is lined up with the other strut tower bolts. Then slide it on and tighten the 6 strut tower bolts as well as the locking bolt on either side of the center portion of the STB. Good luck and enjoy!!!

step one: hold your right hand directly infront of you with all your fingers spread out and the palm of your hand facing the left.
step two: hold your left hand out like your right hand with both palms touching,
step three: bend both arms at 90 degrees with palms still in contact.
step six: tilt your head down and clows your eyes.
step seven: take a deep breath.
step eight: read the literature in the instruction manual that corresponds to the right pictures go in number sequence.
step nine: if you are doing this then you are better off letting someone else do the install. J/P
don't worry man you can do it.. just think of it as.. "ok i'ma unbolt this and then slap this on and then bolt it all back together." just be sure u put things back the way u took them off and you should be golden.
