Going to the track
Hey what's up everyone? Going to the track for the very first time this week. I have a 2k3 SE auto w/Injen CAI being my only mod. Any pointers? Also my friend will bring his 2000 Acura 3.2 TLP w/COMPTECH I/H/E and pulley. How do you think I will do against him?

Actually he probably means TL-P. The "P" designates premium which is the non-sport model, hence 225 hp instead of 260. I used to have a '99 which was slightly slower than the '00-'03 TL-Ps. Those mods are going to help him but you should still give him a run for his money. Your torque will definitely come into play at the line but he will have the upper edge at higher RPMs. If you had a stick its your win hands down. Auto v. Auto, can't say now.
I ran a TL-S that was stock at the track a while bad. I was gettin crappy launches, but I beat him, and another 2k2 Max SE raced him a few times, also victorious. Tips - make sure you get a good launch, take your spare, jack, etc out of the trunk, if you're real ambitious, take your front passenger seat out. Its easy. Enjoy the track! Not sure how much drag racing you have done, but here are a few things I always did when racing on street tires.
Go around the water box if possible. You don't want water dripping down onto your tires while your stage.
No burnouts. Although cool looking, does nothing for street tires to assist with traction.
I always backed up my car about a foot to lock in the diff...don't think this is neccessary with a Maxima.
Do one hard launch before staging spinning the tires a little. This will clean off the tires. After this, stage, you next launch will be your best one.
One other thing I use to do was turn my heat on full blast on the return road. This pulls some heat from the engine, thus keeping your runs consistant.
Anything in the car that is not needed at the drag strip should be removed to save weight.
Hope this helps a little.
Good Luck
