quick redline question

Does it do damage to the engine when you accidentally hit redline at full throttle? does the fuel cut out? may be a dumb question, but I've hit redline a few times and just wanted to know if it did damage. Thanks in advance for any info.

Its a fuel cut, no damage, I hit it everytime on each run when on the dyno like most people do.

It shouldn't detonate at fuel cut... 'cause it's not burning lean during fuel cut--it's not burning at ALL
now immediately afterwards when RPMs drop and fuel comes back in... I'm not sure if it runs lean for that instant, but I wouldn't suspect it...

fuel cutoff on an automatic 2k2 causes a SES... and limp out mode... which sucks! but i dont think any harm.

also, i dont' believe you EVER really hti redline.....arent' most of theseimports designed with a slower rpm. i know some of you read differetn from your stock rpm meter than on your aftermarket meter. most of the cars that i've seen, ranging from my old crx, to my friends mx-6, when at redline, were in actuality 300-400rpm slower. so it never really hits it. correct me if i'm wrong.

I don't mind the rpm level, I just hate that sudden jolt right when my max feels the strongest when I hit the rev limiter. Infact, I wish that techno square or someone else would make a chip to raise the rev limiter to, oh say, 7200 rpms. That would be sweet.

i believe the TS ecu DOES raise the rev limiter to about 7k-7200.

I know that ts makes an ecu for the 02/03 maxima's, but I think that the last I heard we were trying to pursuade technosquare to make a ecu for 00/01 max's. I drive a 00. I would be thrilled to know that they make one for us though. So if you know something that I don't, spill the beans plz.

Why don't you try going directly to the source (in this case, Technosquare). They have the prices and stuff listed for the Maxima on their site...

because, as stated before, TS doesn't manufactur a chip for the 00-01 maximas(yet). Thats what the other three page long thread is about. Ice2k1 is trying to organize everything and get TS to make us a chip.

So, has anyone sent in their ECU for testing?
