Cattman Y pipe and Maximum Tuning VB installed
Just some quick impressions of the two.
Install for both was done by Jeff at Maximum Tuning. He did both in 2 hrs, while I was talking to him the whole time (and plugged my tire, for free). I can't say enough good things about the guy, I highly recommend him.
Here's the impressions.
I was worried about noise because I added the Cattman Y to a CM straight pipe and Greddy Evo catback. Jeff thought it would be fine and he was right. The new setup was a little louder and a little deeper than before but still perfectly acceptable to me. As for as added power, I felt nothing when I first drove it. Later in the day it felt quicker. Now it feels significantly quicker after 3000 rpm or so. My tires are breaking loose at 3/4 throttle in first gear at about 3500 rpm.
(Keep in mind the temps have dropped since the install on Friday)
As for the VB mod, I love it. This is how the car should have been from the factory. 1-2 shift is crisp and not at all harsh. The 2-3 shift is slighter quicker.
Now the final test on the mods. I told the wife that I was bringing the car in to Nissan for some maintenance while I had the mods installed. It's been several days now and she hasn't said a word about noise or the shifting. I asked her today how the car is running and she said great. (She drives the car 90% of the time)
BTW, I do have an intermittant rattle under the car that I have to check out, but it's not bad.

The straight pipe went on last year with the Greddy Evo so I don't know what the effect of it alone was (sound or performance wise). Together they sounded great and with the addition of the Y pipe the sound only got a little deeper and louder. I can't do a sound clip but it sounds similiar to Polo's setup.
