Headlight Theft - Question about door Locks

So I wake up this morning.. go out to my driveway, and my drivers door handle is pried up..and there is a wire harness hanging. I walk around to the front of my car and one of my headlights are hanging down on my bumper. Some stupid idiots must have thought my maxima had HIDS and they tried to jack them. I guess they finally noticed that they weren't HIDS and left them alone. Fortunately nothing was stolen inside..all my CDs and stuff were still there.

Heres my question. There is a wire harness hanging that I guess was connected to my front drivers door handle. Its wierd because my drivers door still locks and unlocks with the key fob. My back passenger door does not. It does not lock or unlock with the key fob nor does it lock or unlock with the power lock switch inside. Is that door lock somehow connected to my drivers door and could this be what the hanging wire controls? I think I also remember that right after I would lock my car with the key fob..the security light by the clock would stay lit for like 30 seconds or a minute.. now it just blinks continuously.

Just a little side note. My car was just in the body shop for an accident that I had where I had to get two new passenger doors. I just got the car back two days ago, so I am not sure if the back passenger door not locking is a result of the break in, or a result of the body shop maybe not hooking up the lock correctly.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear about that bro! Was wondering if this was done at your home or were you out somewhere. I'd really, really, really hate to be around Orlando and walk up to my car and find it broken into........especially at home. I think i'd go ballastic!

Actually I moved back down south after I graduated from UCF in Orlando. It happened at home in Davie/Hollywood.

Alright, well I took both the drivers front door panel off and the back passenger door panel off. I reconnected the wire harness to the the door handle. It connected to the back of the actual key hole mechanism. Not sure what it does because I didn't notice any difference after I connected it.

It also turns out that the body shop did forget to reconnect a wire on my back door, so I connected that myself.

I thought my security light used to stay lit for a little while and then would start blinking. Mine now justs blinks continuously after I hit the lock button on the key fob. Can someone just look next time they lock their car and see if their security light up by the clock stays lit for like 30 seconds or if it just start blinking continuously.

This harness is for your alarm. Basically, there are two ways the car figures out that the door was unlocked properly, i.e., with the keyfob remote OR with the key in the cylinder. By disconnecting the harness to the key cylinder, there's no way for the module to know that you have unlocked the car with the key instead of the remote. Hence, the alarm will sound when you unlock/open (forgot which) the door.

All Nissans do this. My 4th gen stays lit for ~ 30 seconds, then starts blinking every 2-3 seconds. Continuous blinking after locking is an indication that the alarm is not being activated. Something is wrong.
