help heat doesnt work

hey my friend has a 2000 se auto and the heat just recently stopped working. when you turn it on the blowers work but it just blows cold air no heat at all. any clue to what it is?? by the way it is manual climate control.

does his car smell like antifreeze? Did it recently 'fog up' on the inside and he cleaned it?

could be the heater core.
