How loud do aftermarket Y Pipes make your car? Does anyone know if it will pass inspection in NJ?

 

my cattman on my 02 makes VERY little noise..then again on the 00-01s they remove cats so i dunno.......

 

What do u mean they remove the cats?! U mean its just the Y-pipe connected to the b-pipe? is that even possible? EXPLAIN!

 

in 01, the y pipe removes 1 precat. on fed spec 00, an aftermarket y pipe will remove both precats. adding just a y pipe will barely increase noise even at WOT. however, if you have a free flower muffler then its going to increase dramatically.

 

Like sloppy said, it removes the PRE-cats that are on the stock y-pipe. The aftermarket y connects to the headers in front and then connects to the MAIN cat, then comes the b-pipe. You would pass emissions tests easily as long as the engine is warmed up to normal operating temperature. As far as sound, the y-pipe won't make that much difference if you have a stock catback. I have a cattman y-pipe, random tech hi flow cat and a full cattman cattback exhaust and it's louder than stock, for sure, but it's not obnoxious. hope this helps.
