well, i went over to adams house (2000maximase) the other night to do the oscai, and we unplugged the little wire that makes shifting quicker and firmer...basically, i found that while at lower rpms and not accelerating fully, it shifts very firm, but when at full throttle it seems to shift normally. this pay have happened because i had 600lbs more extra weight than normal (adam=220, adams girl=110, my friend=150, subs=120...i am going to try this next time i go to the track for one run...basically, i tried manually shifting and the shifts didn't seem any stiffer at full throttle

when driving through his neighborhood to get onto a main street, we were at about 2k rpms and every time it shifted, the car kinda jumped forwards...needless to say, i plugged it back in right away but i will try it again next time i am at the track

The one in front of the left strut tower... it's connected to a metal piece. Use the search to find pics.

hopefully that works...basically, that is from pauls page of the 20th anniversery maxima but you follow that little silver box that i circled over to the right and there is a chord that is plugged in...basically you just unplug that and give it a go...just follow that over to the right and there is another chord that connects to it (right before the sidepanel)...its right underneith the front left suspension (left when you are sitting in the car, right when you are looking at it head on)...you just use a flathead screwdriver and unplug it

The wire near the strut tower brace is connected to the transmission? That is like saying the leg bone is connected to the .... arm bone?!???

This is the wire I put my tongue on to see if it was "live".

Tell me about this "search" feature. What is it? I have "searched" the given post and I see no such information. Somebody once had a "search" feature in their sig. I believe there might have been a posse formed to find such a person and them.

thanks kev, i don't know wtf is up w/ geocities lately

btw, that is the right strut tower when you are looking at the car...when you are sitting in the car, it is the left strut tower...basically it is on the drivers side

mdeal, yes, that is for the tranny...i just unplugged it and it makes very firm shifts...it will not hurt your tranny from doing it once or twice but it may from continuous use (nobody has proven this yet though)

I think mzmtg tried this on his 4th gen. He hooked up a potentiometer to the thing so that he could vary the shifting of the tranny with just the turn of a dial. He got a pot rated for too low power and ended up burning it out. He said he switched to a pot that was rated higher wattage though. He also said, he got an error code from doing this, so be careful. Do a search in the general forum for 'tranny trick' they have pics and a bit of discussion there.

Ya i made zach unplug it because i didnt wanna do it to my car first it didnt do ****
At low rpms around my neighborhood you could notice a firm shift but out on the road at wot it didnt do anything different! and i weigh 210 now, not 220 and my girl is 130 but looks 110 because she is muscular.. yummy....

ohh and did you notice a better throtle responce after doing your oscai? Im gonna redo mine by removing my resonator and getting under the car and running the tube to a colder area. And where was that shop at where you got your rear resonator removed? IT sounds sweet. I might do it
Ohh and did brian catts pick you for the rstb because he said i was back up he already got someone...

alright, i'll try to answer all those...i didn't feel any performance increase between just having the k&n drop in filter and having the k&n w/ the oscai...i think i will most likely keep this setup or i may go to a pr cai or when cattman comes out w/ them i might try to be the prototype...i'll ask my friend (the one that was there) where the shop is...he had some work done on his car and when we were passing by there from the place that installed my body kit, i just stopped in to check the price...it was $25 and took them about 20-30 minutes...i've gotten quotes around $80-100 so i thought this was pretty good...you heard the sound, i like it...makes it sound like you have an exhaust...and yes, he picked me for the rstb because luckily i was online right when he emailed us and i responded right away...he said its gonna cost me $50 and i need to leave my car w/ them for about 4 or 5 hours next wed. and then they should have the bar done by friday or saturday (one that is show quality they said)...i guess friday they are taking measurements and everything...i think after this i might get a rsb and then a y-pipe and then a fstb but i'm making a list and actually saving up in order for everything

I did the same thing to mine, and my check engine light came on? I guess I have to reset the ECU? How do I do that? I have a 4th gen. if that make any difference. I did like the kick that it gave me, but I really don't know if it make any difference in performance. From what yoitsok said, it didn't seem to make any difference. Anyhow, I'm getting the real deal soon, Don's VB upgrade in a week or so.

If you go to my homepage (link on the left there), you can see my writeup on this issue. It's on the "instructions" page. I plan on going to the track before too long and getting some hard numbers.
