Question about wind deflector
Question about wind deflector
Sorry, if this has already been discussed before. I didn't see any info in the TSB section so I was hoping to hear from people who may have experienced the same problem. My wind deflector (the plastic guard that runs in front of the sun roof) has a crack widthwise (in the middle). Its not completely cracked but it will eventually. I have no idea how this happened (I don't go to the kind of carwashes that run something over the car). I was wondering if this item would be covered under warranty or would be considered wear-n-tear. Any help is appreciated.
Assuming its not covered under warranty, any ideas on where to buy one and how hard it is to replace?

http://www.jerryromenissan.com/en_US/ has them, and they can offer you a 30% discount (believe its still available.) check the parts for sale section of the forums for details. also, keep a watch on those forums cause sunroof deflectors occasionally become available.
this is a known issue with 2k2, I'm not sure about 2k1.
if I was you i'd go back to the dealer and ask nicely for another one for free, and if they don't give you one start screaming about being ripped off and that they sold you a piece of **** that broke and they won't cover it... chances are they'll have you arrested or give you one to shut you up.
They're going to get the replacement from nissan for free so it's worth a shot.

ajahearn, you said Assuming its not covered under warranty... if your car is still under warranty I'd DEFINITELY bring it back and tell them to replace it.
Thanks. I got my car in 12/02 and it has only 20K miles so it is still under warranty. I remember reading about people having small fractures around the mounting bolts. Mine has these as well but they are really minor. This split is pretty serious and is right in the middle. I will call Nissan tomorrow and see, otherwise I will wait till it really cracks to replace it.
I've bought things from Jerome, Courtesy and Dave B, and had good luck with all of them. Jerome's site lists the part as an Air deflector (912805Y710) for $95. Hopefully I can get Nissan to flip me the part.
