04 Tl

I just watched Motorweek on Speedvision. They did a review of the 04 TL. Damn I love the styling of it! I love my Max, but I think I would easily buy the 04 TL just based on the styling of it. It looks sleek and very clean. Weird thing is...it makes my 03 Max look old in terms of styling.

What do you guys think?

I still like the styling of the 5th gen max better. The TL is overall a superior car, and I would have no problem driving it, but I'm a big fan of the Maxima styling. Also sat in a TL at the auto show 2 or 3 weeks ago, and it is very nice inside. seats are a little stiff, but comfy none the less

The maxima doesnt even compete with the TL, save that for infiniti. If you were to compare the two, inside and out, the TL wins, HANDS DOWN. When will this ridiculous debate end.

Well, since everybody says this is a Acura TL vs G35 fight. Then I give the victory to Acura; except for the TL being a fwd it looks a lot better than the G35 sedan hands down.

This discussion already took place on the forum last week....if you like the TL more than the max, go buy one, else stop talking it up. Last I checked this is a maxima forum....and I still think the new TL looks like a TSX on steroids. bland, boring, uninspired.

Actually, now I'll have to retract my last statement. I just looked at a white TL online and it looks a little over done and cheap with the body kit. I'll admit though the one I saw was pretty nice. It was Silver w/ black interior, 6spd, and bodykit. I guess overall the G35 is nicer. I guess maybe it depends on the color.

Maxima...nice car ovreall with some style. TL...nicer car, but pedestrian style...I have always loved Acuras (have owned 2) but the TSX and Tl are going in the wrong direction. Damn here I am talking about it now. no more.

Styling likes are different for everybody. But we are reacing the limits in power that front wheel drive can handle because of weight transfer. You are going to see many name plates switching back over to RWD over the next few years.
So just with that alone the G35 is better.

I work at a Acura dealer as a mechanic, and I drive a 01 Max GXE, the interior on my car don't rattle as much as these 04s started doing already-TLs I mean. Plus they still going to have tranny issues with these models too more work for me= more $$$ for my Max. Oh Btw I already did a run with a 6spd TL vs my 3L 5spd GXE- with all the goodies, and I mean every NA mod possible- so no one calls a BS on it but I romp on it from a 40MPH 2ndgear roll, that car doesn't stand a chance from a 40 to 120MPH roll on. 270HP from a 3.2L V6 but with only about 230WHP cause just like the CL-S they where overratted.

I drove the new 2K4 TL a week before I purchased my 2K3 Max 6spd a few weeks ago. Gorgeous interior and amazing engine, but the exterior is still a yawn compared to my 5th gen IMHO. Acura seems to think a huge cut line and larger wheels are sufficient enough to disguise the usual Honda styling blah's. Oh, and the Saturnesque "ACURA" indentation on the front bumper? That sealed the deal. No thanks.

I'll take my 12k savings and suppliment my mod budget!

When I first saw a TL on the street, I thought it was a TSX, but gave it a second look since it had a "slit" down the side. Sure enough, it was a TL. Rear end looks like a 04 Maxima and 04 Pontiac Grand Prix jumped in the sack, and produced the TL rear. Front end looks bland. Not enough going on. The 5th gen Maxima front end looks so aggresive, like a bulldog my friend says, I love it.

Im sure the interior materials and build quality is excellent, however every new intro has its kinks to work out as ^Mike^ mentions. The engine 3.2L Vtec, I would love to get a test drive and feel this thing go.

Overrated, look at the Maximas. Auto Maximas doing 190 at the drive wheels, with a published rating of 255 hp, thats gross overrating.

Oh, and Mike, you don't have to convince me you can take out the TL, your ride is bad-a$$.

My mom just traded her 03' TL-S on an 04 and I must say it was a huge difference. The 04 is a well rounded car and could easily beat out the Max or G35 in a many ways. Its hard to say which is a better car, but for the price I sure wouldn't by an 04 Max over anything.
