Nasty Accident

Well, in less than two years I managed to mess my Max up pretty bad. Coming home Sunday a woman made a left in front of me and I T-boned her. I took a bunch of pictures before the body shop picked it up. The bungee cords are the only thing holding the front end on. I got the estimate today...$6717. The whole front end is being replaced. Both headlights are destroyed. Believe it or not my airbags didnt go off, the impact was less than 10mph. Her insurance is supposed to be covering it. According it to the cop she will be getting the ticket but he was young and didnt know what the ticket would be for. I put the pics up. This really blows! On the brighter side, I do have a Taurus to beat on for a couple weeks...lol.

Make sure to tell the bodyshop that you want the headlamps. I doesn't look like the ballast or bulbs were damaged meaning you should be able to sell them. I told my bodyshop that I wanted the one the was barely broken, but they didn't listen and claimed they threw it out. Yeah, right.

Don't forget to grab your fogs too, if they're not cracked!

Man don't believe those bastards they will probably take the one that wasnt damaged and jut make it look like it new and put it back in. That will save them a lil chunk of change. They will also use the ballast and bulbs for sure, I would insist to get them back and sell them. You can make some extra $ by selling them on E-bay.

Take them both no matter what the condition and see if they work and put them on your fogs.

Sorry to hear about your accident. With laser equipment, body shops can do a pretty good job. I got t-boned in my Max about 6 months ago - $6000. CAr turned out great. Good luck on the repairs and glad you are okay. On the plus side, no more rock chips. lol

Good call about the rock chips. I am going to ask them about the lights when I pick up my EZ pass from the car on Monday. I hope they let me keep them. The passenger side light is hosed. There is a big hole in the housing. If for nothing else, I wanted to try and keep them to see how hard it would be to get them open to remove the parking light cover...The bulbs are both fine so I will see.

Dayam! That's a lot of damage for a 10mph collision, they just don't make 'em like they use to. Sorry to hear it. Hopefully who ever repairs it does a good job. My $.02, get rid of the pinstripes. BTW, rental Taurus' sux! You should have taken the Focus instead.

I would have taken a focus but they didnt have any. Besides the Taurus is an SES and it actually hauls a$$!!
Im hoping they do a good job, the body shop is supposed to do great work.
I like the pinstripes..They kind of grew on me. Plus it helps my Max stand out from others.

Just a side note but thanks to all the .orgers out there that feel my pain. You guys rule!! I now know what some others have delt with when they hurt their Maximas.

Normally I would have but a lot of the supports up front were bent and I didnt want to screw with that. Plus, this way the stuff gets painted before it goes back on the car.
