How to Remove Rear Window BRAKE LIGHT

i added a spoiler to my 2k and would like to ditch the original brake light in the middle of the rear window (since it is not needed with the brake light on the new spoiler).

anyone ever removed theirs or know where i could find a how-to or some sort? not sure how difficult it would be. any advice? thanks!

OH I think it just slides. then you remove the bulb/socket. You will need to put a cover over thehole it sells for like $25 @ nissan, I think Igor911 is selling one or sold 1 I will look at my old 3rd brake light when I get home

Check your owner's manual. Mine has a figure showing how to pry the plastic cover with a screw driver and a rag to save the surface, IIRC.

push it towards the rear window, the lift up. that should do it. you can just remove the bulb and deal with the warning light that will light up everytime you hit the brakes, otherwise find somethin that will cover the light and block all the lgiht emitted by the bulb. I chose to deal with the warning light. Its behind the picture of me and my girl, so I never see the lgiht and have somethin much nicer to look at

This was the first mod I did on my car after I got my spoiler. It sort of pulls up and out. This will leave a blank space in the panelling.

I forget the exact part #, but Nissan makes a plastic piece that covers the hole. I think it comes in two colors to match your trim. Just tell them you want the plastic piece to cover the Center High Mounted Stop Light (CHMSL).

sweet! so did you just leave the wire dangling? it fires a warning light...at your gauges? for what...oh, just to let you know the bulb is missing or something?

I removed the bulb, and never got any warning light! Maybe I was luckyu just tucked the wiring and away I went. (FYI) This may be due to the fact that I tapped into that line for the spoiler light insted of one of the rear tails!

You just pull the bulb out. The wire and the plastic holder will fit right under the panelling if you turn it the right way. It's a tight fit but it does fit. No warning lights, no problems. It just like as if the light had burnt out.

I just cut mine off...no need for it. It rattled when the sub hit so I just trashed it.

cool thanks. i'll going to take a look at it tomorrow.

i'll pick up one of the covers from Nissan. i might just take the bulb out so it doesn't light and leave the housing in the mean time. thanks again.
