I want to know wut is the fastest any one got thier 2k2 or 2k3 to?

 

GLE = 130

SE Auto = 145~ish

SE Manual = 145~ish

152 for the 6 speed if its dropped for slightly better aero's................by the way thats downhill.

Take the speed limiter off, take the brakes off... you'll be going at speed you can't live with...

 

6speeds dont' have a speed limiter....they're drag limited....then again 1.2 jigawatts never hurt anyone.

I have an '04 6 speed and it's almost been pegged out, I'd say 158 . But once you hit about 145 or 150 the car becomes really really lite!! I won't do it again for a long long time !

 

I dont know anything about the 6th gen Maxima, but lemme tell ya something to go 158 in a Max is quite the accomplishment. Here's why, my friend w/LS1 SS says his car is governed at 160 mph, but in reality it might top 165 (320 hp engine), and my other friend with LS6 Z06 tops out at low 170's. Your car is a freak if you get within mere % of V8 top speed. Good stuff.

 

you can go about 230mph..... if you drive it off a cliff with a full tank of gas.

Heh, need a nice, empty, straight piece of highway to do that. I'd love it if they let us on the Oval here in Georgia.

 

CarandDriver states that the 03 6spd drags out at 145mph. Your speedo may say your going faster but its wrong. 9 or 10 new cars going that speed will display a wrong speed. i.e. Porsche 911 Turbo shows top speed of 202 when its only actually going 192. Dodge Viper shows 186 when it tops out at 193.

Tell your friend with the z06 to find his *****, or floor the car. Not to mention my friends automatic SS hit 170 on the highway. Keep trying.

 

Oh, he has quite the big ***** (and wallet) pal, he has since gone magnacharger, and runs low-mid 11's (BFG dr's, 460rwhp 415rwtq) 125 mph+ all day long at Byron and GLD. I was just trying to say there is no way on God's green earth a stock 6th gen -or any gen for that matter- is doing anywhere close to 160 mph. There's just not enough hp to push the car to run that fast.

Your pal with Auto SS, I assume he removed the governor in order to run 170 mph ? Downhill, an auto LS1 might go 170 mph, with a tailwind. I can only assume he's modded. Non-vert F-body weighs 3450, add two occupants, you are at 3800+ lbs, that's a lot of mass to be zooming along at a buck seventy for a stock LS1...

Oh, and a stock Z06 is drag limited to only ~ 175 mph, stock C5's and the LT5 powered ZR1 are capable of ~180 mph.

 

a 5th gen did it, GPS verified (156mph I believe)... so if a 5th gen with 5 less hp did it, why not a 6th gen?

The guy that used to do the high speed testing At Car and Driver died doing just that. Tire or wheel failure I think.
Why dont you guys just get Canadian Maximas. I hear they hit the 200's quite easily.

Are speedo's accurate at the high end?
My snowmobile can say 112 across the lake but GPS says 97.
Thats on snow so there is a slip factor.
My motorcycle can go as fast as 139 speedo which is 127 GPS.
My max at 105 speedo is about right on according to GPS.
Cant tell you what top speed is.

Mid to low 11's in ls6 with a magnacharger ? - hmm those cars are like mid-low 12 second cars.. and your only gaining a second with a blown motor? all i know is that my buddy has a low 10second z06 ( heads/cam, procharged, full exhaust ) - i keep telling him to put nitrous on it and he will see 9's - but he wont - anyways you can always go the 427 Stroker Motor , heads/cam , full exhaust with the Lingenfelter twinturbo and NOS and see 8's or something haha... 170 sounds about right in an auto SS - my other pal in his Ws6 with just full exhaust has gone 160ish and was climbing strong - and yes arent zr1's just monstrous - the obliderate ls1's and are a good match for the ls6 - especially off the line because of its torques - to bad it looks crappy

Max, you're welcome. I believe gps is pretty accurate and the speedo is high at high speeds.

I didnt get it from a site I have always subscribed to C&D and it was done as a large editorial, Cseba's I think. It was at least 18 months ago something like that. Pretty high end vehicle.
Point I am trying to make is that top speed bragging can be as over exagerated as that guys signiture. At some point above 120 it almost doesnt feel like you are piloting a car anymore (hydroplane on acid?) And one small miscalc. and that is it. Closed casket so people dont have to say "dont his splatter look peaceful"
GPS is what deliveres some of the smart bombs to within 3 feet of exact target.
On speed though it has got to be at least close to radar in accuracy.
This is not to say that I dont find the max's theoretical top speed and the 2 way averaged radar verified high speed runs extremely interesting.

 

I have an 00 SE auto and the only way it will go over 130 is if my dad is behind me with his 02 supercharged vette ( 510 Dynoed RWH ) pushing me. Talk about crapping your pants. Try driving 70 mph in this thing and dropping into 3rd and breaking those 14 inch wide tires loose and getting sideways. Hold on I've gotta go change my pants.

hey jasonb1982, i know for a fact my speedo isn't off that much. Cause I got a ticket in october 6 miles outside conway goin to a Razorbacks game. and I was goin 139, right under 140 on my speedometer. And a state trooper pulled me over for goin 137 in a 70. Only reason he didn't take me in was because I was goin to the game. So if my speedo was off somewhat and my speedo read 159 then I'd be goin what.....say 155 or so. And my cousin has a '97 Ls1 ss with intake, headers and exhaust and my grandpas Jag S-Type outran it start to finish. **** a chevy. I have yet to race m y cuz because it's a waste of gas for both of us. But I have outran several 94+ years of ford gt and cobras. And matter of fact I outran a brand new bright baby blue mach 1 with borlas last nite.
