Availability of 5 speeds vs auto

i hear everyone on here talking about how hard to come by and how long the wait is for 5 speeds. i was at the dealer the other day and as i was walking around the lot i saw at least 12-15 5 speeds just sitting there. i live in southeastern PA. is this not the case everywhere?
