Replacement shifter **** for 2k2 auto

Most replacement ***** are designed for the manual tranny and can't be used on the autos. At least I think that is the case. I tried to install one when i first got the car but there were a couple of issues with the mounting bolts and the overall fit of the piece. Do you guys know of any companies that offer one that might fit the shifter on the '02 GLE?

I believe that the gated shifter is the same size as most manual shifters. Pmas76 and some other members have changed the shifter out without too much trouble. Here is Pmas76's website...http://maxima.cardomain.com/id/maxiello

Ok good. I'm glad to see that it can be done. The one in Pmas76 is clean but I think it will clash with the fake wood in my car since I have the GLE trim. Color looks a too light to match. Also, it seems like it made the shifter quite a bit taller which isn't really what I am lookin for. If anything I wish it was a little lower, but maybe I am getting to picky. Any other links that you guys know of?

go to www.mach3accessories.com Go the the shift ***** section on the left column. They have like 5 or 6 pages of *****. Any manual **** should work.

I think the problem continues with the 6-spd as well. Due to the reverse lockout, the actual **** is VERY short. I have yet to see someone put a **** on that didn't look out of place due to height. I'd like to find an application myself that looks better than the one that comes with the car, but haven't had any luck.

THanks. That site does have a big selection. The MOMO Automatic B would be a slick replacement if it were the same color leather as the rest of my interior. Its black. My interior is frost. I tried a similar one last year that was aluminum but it didn't fit. The shifter was too skinny to house the shift ****--even with the smallest adapter. Not secure at all. It was pretty cheap come to think of it...

It looks like any manual tranny shift **** would work with the automatic shift **** because there is no OD button or anything on the autos.

I think its more of a height/circumference problem. The ones I have seen dont fit the threading pattern very well. What I mean is that there is alot of play once the new **** is in place. Usually too high also. Looks kinda odd when its that high since the stalk is so thin. The interior of the manual ***** seem to need a wider post. Is the manual shifter wider than the auto?

Yeah, I would like to see a direct replacement screw on **** that is the exact height and fit as the OEM one. That would be sick.

Exactly. An OEM replacement. I like the size of the stock one just not necessarily the design.

You would think that someone would come up with something for our cars...especially with the 6th gen a basic carryover.

There was talk once of someone milling some aluminum ones out using CAD, but nothing ever came of it.

I thought the 350Z was going to be the answer, but they use a different shifter...maybe it's the same for the auto tho, so check that out.

And thanks for the props on my car...I like it too!

Oh. I didn't think you meant THE EVO... thought it was a particular company that made aftermarket parts. Does look pretty close. Good suggestion!

Your car has frost leather, right? Man I would love to see how that looks in your ride. Any pics?
