SSR Engineering Intake Manifold

Hey guys, we are working on a one runner style intake manifold that will eliminate that horrible power loss noticed when the transition between runners occurs. If you guys are interested please vote in this poll. If we gauge enough interest we might end up just making a new plenum to replace the runners and keep the stock manifold.

What's the setup on the 350Z manifold? Do they have less low end torque than we do?

It really depends on the design, Jeff. I think our cars wouldn't lose much, if anything. It should flatten out our "curve", I would think...

More NA power is always good. If you price it right, they will come. Any idea what a new manifold or plenum would cost? I mean are we talking $300-500 or $1300-2000?

On a side note it's nice to see that the Max is finally getting back all the power Nissan designed out of it to keep it slower than the 350z.

So would this just be a "regular" intake manifold then? Can someone explain this to me?

Anything that makes good power, people will buy. As long as the price isn't too high.

So.....reading this it sounds like they want to redesign the lower plenum? And instead of having dual runners, it will have ONE for both runners in the upper plenum? Is that correct? What exactly will you be replacing while keeping the stock manifold? Thanks

The entire intake manifold is assembled out of 6061 aluminum and TIG welded with 4043 rod from the inside and out!
We then hand finish the intake manifold on the inside as well as the outside. We use steel inserts on the flange for the throttlebody.

So the thing is, this isn't some cheap upgrade, all runners will be flow bench tested to flow within 1% of each other. Thats designing a whole new intake manifold, what we can do is just redesign the runner or the lower intake plenum portion and that will definitely keep the cost down.

Is this similar to the Crawford Plenum upgrade that the 350Z guys are getting?

I would be willing to bet a new manifold is going to be in the $800+ range??

A good price comparison would be the Crawford Z plenum on the 350z. It goes for $500 plus a refundable $200 core charge.

Here's a link to the site if you want to check it out.

I think its $500 after the $200 core charge. So basically $700 then they refund you $200 when you send them your plenum.

What are you talking about? You have a VQ30...lots more mods for you than us VQ35 guys. Some of the existing products can be slightly altered to fit your car, but very few existing products can be altered to fit ours...

Or you could sell your 2K for close to what maxS is selling his 2K for WITH a VQ35 including a 6spd transplant.

Yes, I would definitely be interested. Although I would hope for a slightly lower price considering the target market. Keep in mind, we drive grocery getters with the heart of a beast, while the Crawford plenum is designed for premium sports cars (350Z or G35) or entry level luxo-SUVs (Infiniti FX35). Those drivers are more likely to be alble to pay more for their mods.

We are trying to develop the most cost effective manifold, so we can have basically an entry-level and a high-performance solution as well. It looks like its going to run around 700 w/core, or it might just be an all new intake manifold.
