My Brake Problem..Help/Advice Please!
My Brake Problem..Help/Advice Please!
Hey guys I'm going to make this as simple to understand as possible. First, I work for a Ford dealer and I bought my car at Auction in Aug of 03. Everything was perfect with the car other than the brakes. They squeak, sqeel, blah blah you know. They also shake at high speed braking. Of course now I know that this is a Nissan problem and its under warrenty. At the time in Aug I had no idea. So the my dealership trys to fix it. Resurfaces the rotors once...nothing, twice...nothing. A THIRD TIME....nothing. So now its Dec. and my brakes still suck. I take it to Nissan and have them look at it. Oh well this should be covered under warrenty but your dealer messed them up. SORRY we can't help you. SO NOW WHAT!? I've worked at this dealership 5 years. I dont want to screw them but they should pay for new rotors and pads. At least rotors. Anyhow, they priced out OEM pads/rotors. It came to a little under $500. Plus labor. Now there is no way I'm paying this much for new brakes. Hell it didn't need them when I bought it. Now what should I do? Buy a big brake kit, and have them pay half? Buy new Slotted/X drilled rotors? Or just stick with OEM? Either way who should pay?! IS there any chance Nissan should step up and help out?
There's something definitely wrong with that...
Resurfacing the rotors once should fix the problem, at least for a while... if they warp too easily, I'd investigate other possibilities (improper installation, improper torqueing of the lugnuts, etc.)
Maybe something else in the brake system, or suspension, is messed up?

Hamy, you should have taken your car into the first dealership until they did their job right. You taking your car somewhere else (which you already paid $500) to get brakes fixed, I think you just slimmed your chance of getting any $$$ from first dealership. You could speak w/ the top dog from the first dealership and explain that his dealership couldn't fix a problem right so you took it somewhere else and got it fixed. But my guess is that he will tell you that you should have brought your car back in again for service.

well you could use that against them but you gotta talk w/ a manager there. If manager doesn't want to or can't help you (which is bs) go one step higher and get in touch w/ owner or somebody in higher position than a manager.
I know how it feels to be treated like anybody else even though you busted your butt for them for years.

Hamy,
Never feel bad in the slighest to demand that somebody fix their screw up.
What doesn't make sense is you had the shaking before and after the brake job.
Have you checked all the obvious, wheel balance etc?
If you bought it at auction, could be the previous owner put her into a median or whatever (obviously this problem could be regardless of where you bought). Do a carfax, might tell you something. Is the previous owner written in the manuals?
