22mm offset with spacers.

Hi, my wheels are 47mm offset with 7.5" width. I am planning on getting 25mm H&R spacers. At this thickness I can get DRM series (the kind you bolt on) and don't have to worry about getting the existing studs out. So do you guys think these will be okay under these circumstances? I did some crude measurement and it seems to be okay in the back. But the front seems a bit iffy.

And another thing is that it seems like DRM series will hold up much better compared to other series. So if possible I want to use these.

I think I'll take that as a compliment....LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

HK...I think 25mm is a wee bit too much for the fronts...remember, the Max has just a tad under one inch less track in the rear than in the front so ideally, you'll wanna have about a 10mm delta front-to-rear (in your case, prolly a 15mm spacer in the front) to equalize how the tires look versus the fenders.

On the subject of spacers, my custom 12mm spacers are on the car, a perfect, dead-nuts on, lovely fit. They look awesome, the rears are now exactly equal to the fronts...well worth the pain & moolah. I took pics (film, not digital) which I will find a way to post somewhere this weekend so u guys can see these cool parts.

Now all we need is a GD so the shop can run a bunch of them with different centric ring/lip sizes while holding the cost down to a reasonable (<$100 a set) level....

Hi Galo,

I am at this again

I figured 15mm would be ideal, but these are backordered all over the place. And I feel more secure using DRM series. They just seem to get installed more securely than DRS series.

I guess I'll order a pair of 25mm ones first and see if they will be okay in the front. I'm sure they will be fine in the back.

Thanks Galo! of spacers

I just installed 5mm front 15mm rear H&R spacers. I think its nearly perfect. I have 45mm offset wheels btw. I know that 25mm up front is too much. It will look like the wheels stick out I think. I'd suggest the 10-15 like Galo said. I think you could even go as high as 30+ mm spacers in the back. I know of a guy on this board running a 18 offset in the rear with 19s and a drop!!!

I think that 5mm upfront won't do much. I think I'll need at least 15mm. But these are back ordered everywhere. How about 20mm?

And to install these DRS series. How much effort and time does it take? Is it more involved than installing struts and springs? Any special tools needed?

Thanks!

You should be fine with 25mm spacers up front. That will essentially make your wheels exactly 8.5" wide.

25mm= 1 inch.

LOL everything you guys are saying is foreign speak to me...
My wheels are 38mm in a 7.5
What size spacers would I need front and rear, so that they wont stick out but have that nice filling look in the wells?

That makes sense! I did some crude measurement all around and fron and back could accomodate 25mm spacers with a few mm to spare.

Your rears could take 30mm depending on how low you are.

Woah! Your wheels are a 47mm offset? I think 25-30 in the front and 30-35 in the rear would actually work. Could be wrong......

PhxBlue, I would say 25mm in the front and rear would work. That would essentially give you the exact same stance that I have. Your wheels will look like 8.5" wide wheels with a 38mm offset.

In your case, 15mm or 20mm should work, but leaning heavily toward 15mm. 15mm spacers are back ordered for months though.

Believe it ir not 47mm offset with 7.5" width is about the same as the stock set up. My front tires rub a little when steered to lock position.

They don't make 35mm ones do they? I think I'll try 25mm ones first all around.

25mm will look pretty good. I'm not sure what sizes they make. I bought 8.5" wide wheels so I don't have to worry about spacers.

Yea, that's what I should have done. I like the wheels, but didn't realize they had 47mm offset. Thanks for your help ASU!

IMHO nice thread.
I would just add that my $.02 in that 30-35 should be the lowest for the front.
This is a FWD Mac strut vehicle. And the strut is asked to do nealy everything short of curing cancer. Too little offset puts a huge load on the bearings and a huge side load on the strut.

Actually its kinda funny how I got a hold of these things. After offering upwords of $250 for 15mm H&R spacers I was looking through the parts forum and I found them for $60 shipped. I guess its just luck thats all. H&R is out of their minds for not making more of these things. On this board alone I bet 10+ people would buy them the same day they came out.

Yea, I thought 25mm would be bit much. But, I seem to fail to see how low offset can cause huge stress on struts and bearings.

It would be nice if there was 15mm ones available. I think these would be perfect for the front. These have been national back order for quite some time. H&R is really crazy not making these.

So you think the rear will be fine with 25mm spacers, effectly making 22mm offset? What do you think of putting 20mm ones up front? This will give me 27mm offset effectively.

Thanks!

Anyone care to enlighten me on this? Mick Max? Galo? I am about to order 20mm for the front and 25mm for the back.

Low offset with a wide wheel should be okay. Low offset with skinny wheels and spacers will unevenly distribute weight to the wheels. Stress will be put on the inner portion of the wheels which will potentially cause camber problems.

Realistically speaking, you should be fine.

Thanks asu174.

Now the question is do I go with 25mm all around or 20mm upfront and 25mm for the back? Is there benefit of reducing that delta between front track and rear track? One big plus for 25mm ones is that they are DRM types. No need to bang the studs out.
