Overtightening strut nuts wiill break...
The dealership swapped the strut out and must have used a impact gun to put them back on. When I went home to put my strut bar back on, the freakin' nuts were so tight that they started stripping and I stopped until I could maybe try a different socket or wrench it was the correct size. I want to know that if by them tightening the nuts so tight does it make the strut mount break easier? I am now hearing the same sound as I heard before I brought it to them. Remember I'm in New Orleans and we have speed bumps on our Interstates.
The dealer uses torque sockets.
They seem to know how to tighten it.
My friend was tightening his strut bar on he '95 240SX SE and we told him it was 80 Foot LBS. He thought we were serious and he ripped off the nut with the torque wrench.

Never trust an impact gun for things that need a more acurate torque setting such as your strut towers or wheel lug nuts.
Nissan specs are...
Front Strut Tower:
32 ft. lbs - 38 ft. lbs
Rear Strut Tower:
18 ft. lbs - 25 ft. lbs
Wheel Lug Nuts:
72 ft. lbs - 87 ft. lbs
Damages can happen if the nuts are tightened too much.
Peace.

Well I finally got the nuts off. I had to hammer a socket on the somewhat stripped nut. I also used a breaker bar to break the nuts. I do still however hear a rattling sound coming from the struts. I'm still wondering if overtightening will cause the strut mounts to break prematurely anyone know?

If you over tighten the nuts then you have a chance of stripping the bolts which could pose a problem.
