Teins vs Progress

I need to know which springs are better for living in New England. Not too harsh and with an even drop. I would love to get 19s for when it's not cold and snowing and do not want to bend rims because of harsh springs. I've heard that 5th gen maxes ride the best with progress springs but look more even with Teins. Im sure the s tech teins are too harsh for a daily driven max in NE. Has anyone seen h tech teins? And are the s tech teins the only ones in this thread where you need to trim the bumpstops?

You dont need to trim bumpstops with Tein S Tech springs.

Teins look the best. Now that mine have settled a bit, I have a tiny bit of that muscle car lean...

i think with the S-tech, you're suppose to trim the bumpstops...

I seem to recall that the general concensus WAS that the bumpstops needed to be trimmed as well with the TEINS.

NJmaxseltd I think is the guy who does installs in NJ, and HIGHLY recommended the trimming due to the travel length of the strut and the bottoming of the suspension.
Those who didn't trim suffering a shortened travel length of the strut and thus a harsher ride.
I'm going from memory here....but a search on the subject will illicit the correct answer.
I'll be getting these in the next month or two -- hopefully the installer I choose won't screw me on this little item when i tell them to do it.

The bumpstops need to be trimmed w/ the S. Tech TEINS.

Everyone is going to say Teins because everyone has Teins. I had Progress on my 2000 Max and they were a wee bit bouncy, but I was overall happy with them.

You're supposed to trim the bumpstops w/Teins, but majority of peeps haven't done it, including myself. Seems fine?

I'm located in the New England area (CT to be exact) I'm riding on KYB AGX struts w/PROGRESS Sport Springs. I personally like the drop and they ride nice but that's my opinion.

That looks really good...have you ever ridden in a car that had teins? so you can compare? Is the ride bouncy like asu said it was??

Great sample pics -- that was exactly what I needed from the side to see the drop.

I'm staying on 17's for now, so I'm thinking the TEINs will be good for me.

The progress looks nice, but doesn't appear to give any noticable drop on the stockers.
My opinion.

The 20's are just SICK.

Bump stops should be trimmed, or replaced with a shorter one in conjunction with ANY lowering spring. You take away suspension travel by lowering, you give some back by trimming the bump stops which makes the car ride better and gives it the ability to absorb larger bumps on a lowered setup.

The Maxima bump stops are almost 2 inches long. Cutting 1/3 of them or more away still protects the strut from bottoming yet gives you back much needed suspension travel and ride quality.

Now that I've done that for general populus.....would somebody care to esplain to me exactly how the different spring ratios effect travel and performance???

I think I have the gist -- but I'd like to hear from a know-it-all so I can be satisfied!
