5-speed: 3rd gear redline wall???

Last night I was racing around with a 2k-2k1 on the road. Not sure what he has done but I was doing a pretty good job of holding out the gears and pulling on him.. then I reached the top of 3rd gear.. and right around redline it was like hitting a wall... as if I have a limiter... but I have had the car over 110Mph before.
Does this sound normal.. once you reach redline the car will limit from going over? Causing you to have to shift to 4th?
Right now modded but not boosted this was really surprising cause if this is the case then I need to beware of this before I boost.
Anyone else have this happen to them?

So the fuel cutoff made it seem like a limiter? Shifting at or just before redline would have been fine?

I'd say the fuel cut is a very effective limiter...no fuel = no power. Shifting right at redline to 4th would have been fine...

Right but what I am trying to find out is... when this happens does fuel cut feel like a limiter? I remember what it feels like in a boosted GXE when it hits 120.. its like hitting a wall.. sorta like what this felt like. If the fuel cut doesn't feel like this then I need to know what else it might be. Just want to confirm so I understand and don't have something blow on me.

Thanks

what you did was hit the rev-limiter...aka fuel cut.

in both of my 00s 3rd tops out at 100 exactly.

this is why we need higher redline...the car is still pulling hard but runs into this stupid limiter.

More like alot of jerks. :P
Its like hitting a limiter in a GXE when you hit 120 (series of jerks until you come off the gas and back off).

Glad to know I thought there was something wrong with my car. It cutout around 100mpH but I know I have gone faster before.. but the fact that I was holding the gear makes alot of sense.

Thanks everyone.

The speed limiter on my GXE did not kick in at 135. The car is stock.

the 3rd gear 100 mph top speed is for 00/01 5 speeds.

the speed limiter at 135 is for all cars withOUT V rated tires. im not sure about the GLE but for the SE only the cars with 17s dont have a speed limiter.

doesnt matter if its auto or stick.
