Tire noise?
Tire noise?
Need some opinions as to what this sound could be: Whenever I'm driving, I'm hearing a low drone. I do have a cattman y-pipe and a greddy exhaust, but I believe this sound to be independant of my exhaust system, as when you hit throttle you definitely hear the exhast, but the background drone remains constant, the drone seems to vary with speed. I had a mechanic ride with me and he wrote it off as tire noise. Initially I agreed, but last week I did away with almost bald Potenzas and went with Falken 512s and the drone remains unchanged. I allow for a possibility that I'm hearing a tire noise, but to be completely identical to what the old tires sounded like seems a little odd. I know my description is clear as mud, but I wanted to see if someone else has experienced something similar to this, or may have an idea as to what it may be.
Thanks

TheMax has a good idea. You can do that on a highway that's asphalt that has concrete bridges.
Also, try shifting to neutral and see if that changes the drone. If the drone goes down with RPMs and not your speed, it's in the motor, exhaust, accessories or accessory belt.
