My car got into a accident and i wasn't even driving

There is work being done to my house and my car was in the driveway. So the workers decided that my car had to be moved so instead of telling me to move my own car they decieded to move it for me. So I go outside to find my car in the road with the keys in the starter and a crack in my new Sarona front bumber and my headlight is sticking out. So basiclly someone found my keys, got into my car moved it 20ft and managed to crack my bumper and knock my headlight out of place

don't pay those idiots for the work they are doing on your house. How did they get the keys in the first place?

I had the keys on the key rack on the opposite side of the house. I have no idea how they found them.

A few months ago I got new carpet, i told the guys I would be back in one hour to move the bedroom set out the way, well when I got back they had broke down the entire bedroom set and when they put it back they stripped the screws and now my mirror is all loose..

what a pain in the ___

Did you file a police report? We might see you on Judge Judy soon.

File a police report and then sue them. One thing, you are taking it a lot better then I would have. In the words of the gangster philosopher "Brick Top". "Do you know what "nemesis" means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent. Personified in this instance by me!"

Sue them for stealing your car. That is a theft no doubt. They took it without permission and then crashed it. You don't know if they were really trying to steal it.

a) File a police report. This is technically auto theft, so you should document it.
b) Call thier office and get them to open up an insurance claim against their company hazard insurance (hopefully, these are not day laborers). If they don't offer any insurance to you, then open a claim with your car insurance and let them do the dirty work (while also taking your car to a reputable shop to get repairs).
c) file a claim with the Better Business Bureau
d) get a better deal on the price of the work they were doing!! Just out of embarassmen they should give you a good discount. Legally, you can not hold out on paying them for the work (not in CA anyway). The accident is a separate incident.

Don't waste your time in court. All they will award you is cost of repairs. Good luck.

Lawsuit? Police report? Come on.

It's pretty clear that one of the contruction guys moved the car and damaged it. Just talk to the foreman and ask him who did it. Just say "hey, I know one of you guys did it. I just ask for the that person to be responsible for the damage he/she did. No biggie". That's probably the most logical way to handle it. And any court will ask if you tried to handle it out of court first.

You can just have the guy's car insurance handle it or the construction company handle it. IF no one comes clean, just say to the manager. "Look I'm gonna file an accident report with my insurance company and explain exactly what happened. If someone wants to come up and take responsibilty, that's fine. If not, I will be forced to file an HIT AND RUN report with the police." See where that gets you. If nothing happens, then take the construction company to court. (and hope they don't get ****ed and screw up your house)

I agree with Jeff. Just ask them kindly to pay for the damages. Construction companies usually have a ton of insurance for whatever damage they do. That is as far as you'd probably have to take it.
