Holy Sh*t! insurance skyrocketed!!!!

I just got my insurance renewal form yesterday from Liberty Mutual and I almost passed out when I saw what my premium went up to. I was paying $2400/yr last year wich I thought was too pricey the I get my renewal and it went up to $3660/year!!! That is all my car payments for one year. I could be driving two maxima's at that price. Can anybody please help us 2002-2003 maxima owners find some affordable quality insurance that won't break the bank. I think that it is bullsh*t fir us to have to fork out all this money just to drive our cars. I am 24 years old, no points, no tickets no claims and I should be punished with a $3600/ year car insurance premium???? They need to stop raping us for car insurance!

time to switch insurance company abididdy.

I'm also insured through Liberty Mutual. I'm suppose to get a discount on my car insurance due to a fact that I have home insurance through Liberty Mutual but I don't think I'm getting any kind of discount at all because car insurance is still expensive.

Jeez, with USAA I pay about 1700/yr for my 2k Max, my wife's 2k Jetta, and my townhouse homeowners police...If your parents are military (or you are) or you work for the DoD....you can get USAA...they don't rip you off. If they make over a certain "profit" they refund all policyholders. They just sent checks for 7% of your FY 2003 premiums to all policyholders....its nice getting over 100 bucks back from your insurance co.

I'm paying 1755/yr for my insurance and I've even been in two accidents. One was in my Maxima and it was my fault (rear ended someone). The other one was in my girlfriends car (they ran a stop sign). They both happened within a 24 hour period. Talk about a shlitty day

I would talk with your Rep. and ask for a reason. I am with Liberty Mutual in the northeast and pay 3100/year total for 3 cars! (2003 Murano, 2000 I30, 96 Honda) One of those cars lists my teen as the primary driver! So I can't understand why they have you paying 3660/year for one car !!!!!!! Crazy!

Insurance depends on a LOT more than just age and points, so unless you live in the same city as abdiddy, I wouldn't say a whole lot or get too excited. Maybe this has to do with the fact that Maximas went up on the insurance ladder scale of how much it costs to insure a car.. ask your agent why this happened, and what he/she can do to help your situation.

Lith is right. Im 30 and pay 1200 a year, but that doesnt mean anything, unless you live in the same city as me. I was paying 4k a year for my Mustang in NYC back in 1990. In the big cities you get raped on insurance. I know some people who check insurance rates , before they even buy a car.

abdiddy- you must be in NJ.....

If so try to get NJ manufacturers, theyare the best in the state.

Raidwolf.... I pat 1300 a year on my CBR954 from Ryder insurance. Check them out it might be cheaper then your coverage- depending on your age.
My car insureance is ridiculous too... I am paying 2600 for my 02 max. There are people out there that are paying more then we are....

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if almost everyone with a 2k2 or newer max get a pretty big rate increase on their next renewal. The symbol rating on the max went from a 15 to a 18. My insurance company told me the reason that they went up so much is because of the cost of repair for the max (many are getting into accidents maybe part of the problem is the blowtenza tires) Hid theft, and the fact that the horsepower to weight ratio went up quite a bit in 2k2.

I really feel for everyone on this thread paying out the a$$ for insurance. I'm 27 with no tickets or accidents and I pay only $780 a year with Nationwide. I also have the highest coverage available with $500 deductables. It must pay off to live in the south

LithiuMax is absolutely right. Insurance can be alot like real estate: Location is everything! However, I can't believe no one has pointed this out yet: Your insurance has likely skyrocketed because you live in the HID theft capital of the nation!! I'm 25 with a clean record here in K.C. and pay only $960/yr with State Farm. I've no doubt my rate would be significantly higher in the NE due to traffic/theft issues.

This hike is disappointing and pretty outrageous...but considering the NE HID theft epidemic, not surprising.

It works for me. I pay around $15k a year for two vehicles full coverage. I'm almost 46 though. I don't drive my Max as the primary vehicle though. As other people have stated, where you live and the accident rates will determine how much you pay along with other factors. I'm almost certain that my premium wil increase next year because of the Maximas repair costs and HID replacement claims.

Damn, I pay 1100/year with State Farm and I'm 22 and have 1 speeding ticket. And that price is WITHOUT the good student discount since my GPA is currently under a 3.0.

Damn!!! I live in Chicago (City, not Suburbs) and had to pay $1400/yr for Allstate. I had a $500 deductible with a ton of other discounts (e.g. Airbag, Anti-theft, Good Driver Discount).

But everyone's right, it really depends on the area. I'll be moving to the suburbs pretty soon and I know my rates will drop by at least $200 or more.

rider ins. is who i have. i'm 25, ride an R1, and have full cover, and according to rider, i live in an area which isn't accident-prone, in which case rider will jack up the rates.

raidwolf- ok cool. My CBR is only ~1200 to insure with Rider, I am a few years your senior though.

Look into Manufacurers though.. it's worth it if you can get in.

When you find out what happend, you should let us know. SOmething got re-classified, either you or the car. I'm curious to see if the car got re-classified due to high theft loss, in other words, HID thefts in your area.

Don't like paying to drive your car? Take the bus! You must be new at this whole 'living life' thing, hence that wildly ridiculous statement. Have you ever been in an accident with someone who DOESNT have insurance? See how 'stupid' and 'BS' it is then, when hey guess what, now you're paying even MORE money! Hooray! Insurance is stupid, let's all drop our policies and play demolition derby!
