quick audio question

i dunno much about car stereo..... so with that said.

1. are all tweeters same size?

2. and also, on the 2k bose system, are the 4 middle speakers 6.5? i read somewhere, and i think that is the size, but want to make sure.

3.lastly, would installing my own speakers on a clarion vrx815 unit be doable? is it just time consuming? or does it require a LOT of know how. If its not too complicated, i can get it done for cheap,

thanx in advance.

was wondering for those that have swapped out their bose, will i need that y adapter to plug into back of the aftermarket HU? or would replacing speakers rid me of that problem

You may want to try any future audio threads in the audio forum. Yes, the speaker diameters are 6.5". I am non-bose, so I cannot answer your other questions.

No not all tweeters are the same size, but they are usually 3/4 to 1 inch. You can add a new head unit and keep the bose speakers with the use of OEM factory amp integrators. They're about $50 a piece and you need 2. The Bose does sound better with an aftermarket headunit, because of the higher pre amp voltage. Most decks have about 4 volt pre amp outputs, or at least the better ones do. If that is not enough. Then you will have to buy amps and run wire to the output side of the factory amp, but it would be better (but more difficult ) to run new wire to each speaker. Another problem you will have if you try to change out the speakers is that Bose uses 1/2 ohm impedance amps, most speakers are 4 ohm. In short, if you put aftermarket speakers on the Bose amps, it would be as loud as listening to your headphones that are laying across the room. I have a wiring layout of the 5 th gen max I can send you if you need it. Hope this helps
