maxima vs 99 prelude vtech

i was sittin at the light with my freind in the passager seat and this prelude pulls up and starts pealing out a little so i reved mine..
i had my foot on the brakes and was reving at 1500rpm waiting for the light to turn green...
we both pealed out at the light but i took him bout a car at first but then he caught up (he was driving a stick) he passed me by half a car but i stuck on him the whole time

is my car slow are are preludes suppose to beat us?

preludes can be pretty good runs for the 3.0 maximas. im no honda expert but id say his VTEC is what allowed him to catch back up with you. ive also heard that some of the models right before they were canned were great handlers even stock. by the way, VTECH is a phone manufacturer.

At a rolling start it would give our max a pretty good run, but from a light i would expect them to have the upper had due to the weight diff alone.

the 5speed prelude is a faster car than any 3.0 auto max that is stock. The reason he caught up to you so fast is because his trans has an extra gear, and better gearing. He also has a higher redline, and when v-tec engages it allows him to be in his power band for a longer period of time.

02+ is a different story than 95-01 auto's , 5 spd 97-01 Ludes are probably a tad quicker than 95-01 autos(Max quicker Initially, lude quicker up high). On the street who knows when hes in a stick and you auto, and now the auto Lude you will kill its slow!

Scopium, with drivers' being of similar skill, a 5sp VTEC Lude should win everytime against an auto 3.0L Maxima. NOTE: The 4G Si VTEC Lude is quicker than the 5G Ludes.

However, if you face off against an 5G Lude SS (sequential shift auto), you may beat that one.

They run from 15.2-15.5 for VTEC models. 94-96 VTEC 5speeds were the fastest and 97-01 models are the slower of the two. Auto's are very slow. In the low 16's stock.

wtf are you talking about. I know your not speaking from experience because if you were you would know its a VERY good match. lets see-95-2001 auto 1/4 from 15.2--16.0. WOW and thats what the prelude runs unless FI.

Ive personally had about 7 runs with 3 different preludes.
2 i lost(but very close)
3 i tied
1 i won.(by only about a hlf car)

and this isnt amgazine times.

was up chigga...
i had him from 0-70 by like a car ... but took me from 70-90..
and he was complaining saying that the reason i had him from 0-60 is cause i have and auto and my car is faster .. how stupid
i'm an auto, yet heavier, and i my friend was like 180lbs and i probably had 60 lb of **** in my trunk
his car is half my car and he was a stick

i'm pretty sure with out my freind i would of had em

anyways mayb next time

Let me field this one kgb; Chill, if I'm running against your Y2K GXE auto in any 5sp VTEC Lude (in decent shape) I will smoke you like a Marlboro. Especially on the topend where the Lude tops out @ 140mph+. Auto VQ30 Maximas dont approach low 15s w/o some legit mods.

No offense, but the guys that ran you either had auto trannys or couldnt race for crap.

same story as my 99 max.. my auto vs 5spd prelude SH. i had him right off the start, then he started catching up and passed me. not my much tho, i noticed him gaining a lot of speed starting with the 3rd gear

i used to lease a brand new 1999 prelude 5 speed
i raced my friends with their 4th gen auto maximas, it was a joke i used to kill them

i raced my other friend with his 5 speed 95 se max and i was dead even with him up to about 110
