the best y-pipe?

All,

looking at a ypipe. which brand is the best?

- if these are intended for off road use only, how will this affect emissions?
- how difficult is the install?
- has anyone put header wrap on their ypipe? (did this with my last car)
- any problems in general I should look out for or consider?

thanks,

das

...I know some of this has been discussed before, lets get it all in one place for newbies like me!

I have seen the Cattman Y in person and I have one sitting in my garage waiting to install. I think it is probably the best one to buy. They don't remove any of the catalitic converters so they are not offroad only.

Seriously!!!! I thought Cattman was the sh*t and that's why I bought it 2 years ago. Until recently when I had to replace my flex section (gen 1) and have someone weld the HOLE that was in my pipe!!!!! Just make sure you get a pipe with a good lined flex section. Peace_

After seeing my Cattman side by side with one of the other brands, no comparison. Cattman is top notch. Fit was perfect, thicker flanges, larger diameter pipe, longer flex section. Can't say the same for the other brand. I have a Gen 2 pipe, installed three months ago.

Is it everyone that has a problen with some grinding /banging noise with their y-pipe on the 02/03 or just a few people. I know for a fact that there are some clearance problems and some folks have removed some sort of support bracket to fix the clearance problem. I want to but the y-pipe but would rather wait until cattman figures a perfect fit.

if u have a 2k2 the fitment of the pipe itself is PERFECT... only thing u will have trouble is with one of the bolts.... it's too long.... so the easy fix is to cut off maybe 2mm off of the end (like 3-4 threads)........i dont have any problems with grinding or banging with my cattman.... i think they're products are of very good quality..

I bought a Cattman a while back and would never buy one again. I had 2 flex sections go bad on me. When I took it off the last time, I did it at my buddies shop. The guys over there were laughing at the engineering and construction of the Cattman y-pipe. These guys build race cars from scratch, so they know their stuff. If I had to do it over again, I would buy a WSP or Stillen Y-pipe.
