Traded in my 4th gen!
Trade in my 4th Gen for New 5th Gen - WOW!
Bad news, last week I traded off my 1998 Maxima GXE (damn best car I ever owned). Good news, yesterday I picked up my new 2001 Maxima GXE, Sterling Mist/Frost interior (damn this is now the best car I have ever owned). Just a short note regarding bad paint. I had my dealer put on a clear 3M hood tape (coves about the first 8" of the hood)as well you can have it applied to the bumper and to the mirrors. I had it on my 4th gen and it really seemed to make a difference with paint chips. Also I have the K & N drop in filter for the 2k1, can I install it prior to the recommended break in period?

I was originally going to have the 3M tape put on through an automotive detailing company for $185.00 Canadian dollars this included the hood, part of the bumper and the mirrors.
My dealer wanted $ 285.00 to do the same work and this did not include the mirrors. When I mentioned that I could get it done for $100 less my dealer drop the price to $150.00 no mirrors.
Note: $150.00 Canadian = about $ 100.00 US dollars
Although this is the best $150 I've spent for paint protection you need to check this 3M is not recommended for dark colored cars (i.e. Black). I'm not sure why something to do with the thermal dynamics of the tape, although no problem with light colored cars.
