I just noticed yesterday when i had my car on and clearing the snow that the exaust gasses were coming out of one of the holes on the muffler... is this normal? is it due to the Variable-Capacity Muffler? or is something wrong with it?

 

under normal or idle situation exhaust should only come out from the right hand side. During mid or hard acceleration both exhaust opens (aka variable muffler).

If it comes out the left hand side only, then you have a problem...
