Re: Brake Question?

I have a feeling that the rotors on my 2k2 have warped. i want to replace the rotors all around and do the pads at the same time. what are the best rotors to use with stock calipers and pads that match them best. i will get the final verdict on the rotors tomorrow when i take the car in and i would rather do the change of rotors and pads my self to aftermarket parts.

I was going to ask a similar question. There was a great article on warping that I can't find, but it basically said that "warping" is actually a change in the chemical and physical properties of the iron of the rotor that creates that wiggle and shake. The change is kind of a mushroom on the metal that you can cut the head off by having the rotors turned but the stem is still there and more use will cause it to "blossom" again. This is why rotor that are "warped" once keep "warping" again.

I was looking at doing mine this weekend and just going completely stock, but I think I am going to go with stock pads (as they work and have lasted 55K miles) and Raybestos Rotors. I have read some good things about them and at $72 bucks a piece at NAPA, they are $26 cheaper (EACH) then stock. I just can't justify the cost of the "performance" rotors and or brake kits when I also want to do the motor mounts, clutch and seats.

If anyone has had experience with Raybestos please talk to me!!

Thanks

Raybestos rotors warped just fine on my 2K. I'm holding out for the BlehmCo BBK for using 6th gen rotors with stock 5th gen calipers on stock wheels... (check General Maxima Discussion for more details)
