InCabin Airfilter Question

InCabin Airfilter Question
I had my car checked out at nissan today, belts changed etc. When i went to pick up the car the service manager recommended that i change the incabin airfilter considering i have 47k on my car. I know there used to be posts about this, but i never caught if doing it was necessary... BTW he said it would cost $96, i looked but couldnt find a cheaper price.
thanks

Your 2000 Max does NOT have an in cabin microfilter installed unless you asked for this option when you purchased your Max. The microfilter is only standard on the 2k2/2k3 Maximas.

I don't know if it actually standard but mine came with it, I went to look at my window sticker to my car I kept and it's listed there as option costing me $59 bucks. I'm not certain if that's just the filter or that's integral part of the climate system.

agreed. you DO NOT have to have it! personal preference. helps keep debris and odors out a bit.
if you have a 2k you likely DO NOT have it - it was an option. you can look for the sticker of follow the install instructions below to see for yourself.
$98 is a rip off. buy it for $45 and install yourself. very easy.
can buy from Courtesy Nissan for $45.

You should be able to replace it yourself in 15-20 minutes tops. The dealer was trying to rip you off. I replaced mine this month after passing 41K miles. My car was getting a gross smell from the vents when the heat was on. When I took the old filters out, they were covered in dust, fibers and some leaf fragments.

I did mine a few months ago and it was my first time. I took about an hour as it was dark, just an hour before midnight.
