I have an interest, but the tranny I just had to pay for doesn't help my case.

Any thought on a CF OE style spoiler to go with it? I would FIND the money in that case. I just don't want a body color spoiler on a CF lid, I think it might look out of place unless it was a black car.

Either way I am interested. What is the deadline? I am trying to get some $$ together.

YEAH! Jason... I've PM'd the guy at ionic about a CF intake manifold, but I havent heard from him in a while... I REALLY want that done. I think he should consider it because I think alot of 2k/2k1 guys will be receptive to that. As far as the CF trunk lid goes, I'd like that too but please try to find out the guys take on making an OEM CF wing too. Thanx...

We only need 5 now, Jose said that he doesn't need 7.

So we have 1, but 3 other people said they were sending money as well and I have yet to hear back.

Where did all the interest go...?

maybe they realise that adding a carbon fibre trunk to a street car that's sole purpose is to provide comfort with moderate power might be a bit ridiculous?

Maybe i'm alone in my thinking that a Maxima is a nice daily driver... adding carbon fibre parts, etc, etc, etc is killing the whole reason for purchasing a maxima...unless you bought one to solely race it. Even then, a carbon fibre trunk is illegal in most racing classes.

yeah its a nice daily driver. I actually dont drive my maximas that much. Some people want to make a show car and not just have the maxima to carry around kids or just drive comfortably to and from work. Im only 20...what are kids? ...hehe

I also dont have money for this hood....i got other things pannned...

Jason,

Any word from Ionic about the CF OEM wing or the CF intake manifold cover as well? I love the way the CF trunk looks but I want a wing too. Please check on a CF intake manifold GD too. I think that will definately work.

I will talk to Jose about the manifold cover and the wing. I am hesistant to even bring it up because people showed interest in this trunk lid thing and no one has come through but 1 person on the down payment.

I will mention it to him, but at this point, anyone who wants it will probably have to pay in full what he thinks it will cost and there will be no real "deal".

It's hard to keep offering all this support and have no kickback... I would be much more inclined to get the manifold cover going and whatnot if we could get the other 4 people going on this.

Maybe this just isn't going to happen. But it doesn't mean it should ruin everything else that could be made in carbon fiber.

it just comes down to a lot of people talked this product up and they would buy it and this and that.. and the same can happen for the rest.

if someone else wants to step up and throw down the money for production costs, that will work for me, but i am putting up money on 2 products that are failing right now. i don't plan on putting my neck out again, it's not worth the time.

It may be just me... but I think fitment might be an issue for one, look at the 4th gen you posted pictures of... the left side of the trunk is higher than the right, could be it was installed wrong but who knows... You can tell easily by how the taillight lines up, and in the 2nd picture you can see the trunk lid sticking up on the left side, I still like the idea though.

Well, think of what you're trying to sell (a product more suited for purpose built drag cars or street racers who think they are real racers) and the market you're trying to sell it to.

If you want to try to sell carbon fibre taillamps, shift *****, door sills, etc, this forum would be all over that. More people on this board are about looks over function. Is that bad, nope. but, a big carbon fibre trunk lid is not on the "looks good" side of things... unless you have a black car where you won't even notice it.

you just have to find a product that fits your market better.

At the end of next week, if this thread has not produced 4 more people willing to pay the down and brought a donor lid for production, I am nixing the whole deal.

I will then talk to Jose about doing something for engine covers and other items, but it will take a good amount of people to go in on it, because I will not take on any costs. At all.

These were taken with a camera phone but you get the idea:

There is virtually NO gap.. perfect fitament.. lines up like STOCK.

just another quick idea that came to mind regarding the license plate...there should be a indented area for it..but also..if i remember correctly, above the license plate on the top rim..there has to be two areas/holes for the license plate lights to go..they screw in also..jason, im assuming ionic has taken this into consideration?

I think we are going to rid the whole seperate license plate seamed piece and jsut do a frenched area for a plate to fit with the stock mounting holes and whatnot. There will be holes made for the lights as well.

And I would hope that everyone in these past few pages who called out any kind of gap or fitament issues would please take a look at the post above and comment on it. People are quick to call someone out on something, but rarely does someone ever admit they were wrong or stand up and say they have been corrected.

thanks.

By people I assume you meant me, since I'm the only person that said it, so you may as well use my name if you're going to make a personal attack on me... And I was not wrong, I still see the misalignment on the left side on the first page of this thread where you posted pictures of your car... In the 2 pictures above it looks aligned... on the first page, it does not, I admit that, don't you??? If not take a close look, its quite evident the left side was not lined up, you can tell by the taillight easy as day, its not a straight. And I don't see how I
ve been corrected, perhaps you corrected your car instead.

wasnt a personal attack on you.. i didnt go back through the thread and read who posted that i was showing a misaligning product, i simply posted that whomever said it wasnt going to line up that it does.

the probably is, people like yourself are quick to judge on something before trying to figure out how it works mechanically and seeing if you could be mistaken; or listening to someone who knows how it works. yes, it was not aligned in the first pictures.. but it is now and fits perfectly.

friday this deal is over and done with..

yet again bumping!

we really need to find a donor car too, I haven't found anyone that has the ability to take a 4-6 week downtime on their trunk lid.

i wonder how much is a trunk? what if we if we pitched in an additional 30 bucks each = 150....would that be enough to buy a used trunk like from a junkyard or something...?
