I saw a thread with info about getting rid of the third light. They also sell a block off piece interior color match to cover the hole after removing it. I don't have the link (can't search).

I got mine from spoilerdepot.com about a year ago and it came prepainted (exact color match) and looks just like nissan equiped models. I installed it on my 2000GLE in about 3 hours, (took my time centering and drilling and prepping holes). It was really easy electrical wise as the trunk lid was already prewired for the spoiler brake light.
I just checked spoilerdepot.com and not a bad price as well. Do you guys actually think the car looks better with it or w/out it? Opinion please. Kind of undecided if I should get one or not. Thanks.

I was looking at this one http://www.nissan-accessories.com/PP.asp?PID=255 free shipping and comes with the block off for the third light ,but I like the price of the one at spoilerdepot better..
I went down to the dealer on a Sunday when they were closed and found a max with a spoiler on it and took some measurments so I would be able to install mine in the exact position. The spoiler comes with pointed set screws that you intall in 6 locations upside down so the pointed end is out so when you get it positioned just right on top of the lid a little top pressure puts little indents on the trunk lid giving you exact drilling locations. I to was a little nervous about drilling the seven holes, after the first one it was easy. Use a new bit. I prepped the holes with 2 coats of auto primer dabbed on with a Q tip and then a couple coats of touch up paint. After the wing was mounted (I siliconed the mounting holes for added weatherproffing) hooked up the spoiler brake light to the existing prewiring in the trunk lid. The plugs didn't match so I cut both of them off and hard wired the two together. I pulled the bulb from the brake light in the back deck and every thing works just fine. the job took about 3 hours. Most of the time was to make sure the spoiler was lined up correctly.
