Man after getting killed by that bug last night i feel the need for speed and no matter how much you mod the max it will take alot of money to hit even low 14's in my automagic and i would rather keep it relativly stock so im gonna buy an 88 or 89 5.0 for around 2000 bucks and my friend knows all about them and can hook me up with parts and know-how. He says for 700 bucks he could have me in high 12's low 13's, Sounds good to me!!!!! His 5.0 has over 800 hp btw and runs high 9's DAYUM!!! Ill let you all know when i buy it and will post pics etc....
What do you all think????

Sounds good. I have an 86 355 IROC I do the same thing with. But brake, and brake often it will. Ford also has ALOT of electical issues.

Anyhow, get a catalog from summit racing. They a have an entire section just for 5.0 goodies. It is very true that this 302, 5.0L responds greatly to mods. But then again, they do look like over sized Ford Escorts to me. But thats just a matter of tastes.

Great idea!

I was thinking of doing the same thing. I grew up with Mustangs and Camaros all around me. The Mustang can easily get into the 13's and with a little more work, 12's. My problem is that I live in a townhouse with no room to park it. Someday...

Hehe am I the only one who is not interested in getting his max to do 0-60 in -5 seconds? Speed's nice but I prefer handling. But... if you wanna get a rustang and make it go zooom zooom more power too ya

Ohh and i like handling too and i will make the maxima as well as the mustang handle very well. The mustang will just be ugly and fast as hell. im still keeping the max of course...

Mod the heck out of it.

Put a Saleen bodykit on it and mod the living daylights out of it. It would be better if you got a Coupe as your car since is is way lighter than the GT or LX. If you have trouble finding a good coupe, a good runner up would be a GT hatchback over the more portly LX convertible.

I have an 89 Saleen convertible and I love the way it looks. Runs like a bat out of hell to but I know that I have limitations and others can beat me from time to time.
