I've asked this question in other forums but as of yet have not gotten an answer. In the Maxima literature as well as the Edmunds write up, it states that the Maxima has "cell phone pre wiring". What is this?

Have to find the source, but I remember reading that there is a non-directional mike built into the steering wheel center. That way a hands-free phone can be installed. Anyone else ever see this or is it just a dream I had after eating Thai food?

I belive but not positive.......

That the bose radio....maybe the cheap clarion also....allow a hands free kit(say nokia or something....the 300 buck one) to send a feed into the radio so it will mute it when a call comes in. Thats how Andi had his in his 97se. He just need to get the right wire.....the radio was already set to accept it. Maybe it uses the speakers as the way listen to the call.

4th gen

the hands free cell phone kit was wack. it was a deck like unit that stays in your car. no point. just use a normal cell phone. i'm not too clear on the 5th gen tho.. i know u can somehow mute the stereo or maybe theres a wireing harrness u plug in. but i feel it's a waste of money .. imo.. if it's a nokia. then u gonna be switchin' phones every now and then so the old phone would be useless. or just an extra bill to pay..
