Honestly ...

Other Cars aren't Flawless ... They have just as many problems as us!!!

I think we are OVER analyzing ... and putting down our cars too much!

My Buddies, one has a 99 Camry V6 CE, the other has a 98 Passat, 99 Prelude, 2000 Accord Coupe V6

Problems:

99 Camry - Hand Brake light stays on, ABS Light Sometimes Comes on during Driving (SCARY), Rear SEATBELT Won't Retract (Dangerous as hell)!!

98 Passat - ODOMETER (right term??, I'm half drunk) RESET itself to ZERO!!!!!!!(no it won't help Resale), LCD displays on Gauges, 2 of them Went out!
*** Map Light Fell out and hit my buddy in the head ***

99 Prelude - Suspension SQUEEKS over bumps, 3rd Break Light LEDs Keep going out, Right Headlight goes out every 3 months! (Thats why He doesn't get Aftermarket, waste of money,Noticed a LOT of preludes have the same problem)

2000 Accord - Has similar dumb-azz tranny problem as OUR Auto!!

This is just what they have Told me ... might be more!!!

Honda...

Man, my girl has a Honda and the dealer told her NOT to touch the window when rolling it up or down...Turns out Honda windows seem to break rather easily

I think you mean the same as a toyota corolla

Anyway, yes all cars aren't perfect...and yes some of us are unlucky to catch the bad apple from the factory where the machines went wrong, or the people programmed wrong, etc etc. NOTHING'S perfect...BUT...you'd think when you spend over 20k on a car (with other "mainstream" cars still affordable at under 20K) that car companies (ESPECIALLY WELL KNOWN, REPUTABLE, LONG-TERM ones like Nissan, Toyota, Honda, etc) would put more effort and time into checking these things out. They supposedly put cars through rigorous tests...were they dead or sleeping when the things we all mention happened? With SO many people complaining of the same thing, it can't just be a one in a million fluke from the factory! Just my opinion...

Mechanical things break, fact of life. The Maxima tends to break down less than other cars, but it's not perfect. There's no such thing as a perfect car. They all have their share of problems. My brother Matt has 189,000 on his 95 Maxima and it hasn't had any problems. He's still on his original tranny.

I guess I was just shocked coming out of my 91 Celica GTS. I would probably have stayed with Toyota but figured I'd move out of the 2 door and into a bigger car that still had some sportiness to it.

I guess given the reliablity and lack of problems that I had with my Celica, any car would seem like a step down. That car gave me zero probs..same clutch, struts, exhaust when I traded it in with 110k on it.

Too bad it got a little crunched and after that...well...it was time for something new.

I have no doubt that the engine in the Max will last forever...its the rest of the car I'm worried about. Not to be funny but I rented an Impala a few backs in CA and I really felt comfortable in that car.

Some us got the Friday build cars and some of us got the ones that were made the way they were supposed to.

Oiprocs said it best here and on his other thread.
