Aha! Now I know why no one has responded to my thread.

My initial question which must not have been posted because of some server error was what is wrong with my driver's side tail light. I had recently replaced it because the running light part of it didn't work. Now the brake light doesn't work but the running light does. I notice there are two filaments in the bulb and they are both intact. Is there fuse blown and where are they? Under the hood?

 

Push the bulb in until you hear it click.

 

I have seen bulbs with what looked like perfect filaments fail to burn. Have you tried another bulb or tried the one from the other light?

 

I think the fuse controls both lights, so it's probably not that. But you'll know for sure when you stick another light bulb in there.

Like CCCS2k1Max states, make sure you hear the 'click' when you've fully inserted the bulb. I was just changing my burnt driver side rear bulb today and when i did, i tested it with the running lights On and pressed the brake pedal to find that my passenger side bulb (which was changed recently just like yourself) didn't light up.

Turns out I didn't 'click' the bulb in place and it slowly loosened over time. One tip, when you do twist out the bulb from it's socket...slowly and carefully take it out, i had trouble today when the bulb was so loose that it fell into the brake light housing. It was not an enjoyable experience trying to take it out.

i think i know your problem, what model bulb did you replace it with?
make sure its a 7443 and not a 7440..

also, if you have the correct bulb, make sure its clicked in all the way. try turning the bulb around. try a bulb from the other taillight and narrow down the prob.

 

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, you have to do more than "push the bulbs all the way in." Disconect the battery (for safety), take a flathead screwdriver or another object that will allow you to bend the contacts in the bulb holder out as to make a tighter fit.
