I'm not having a shop do it... still waiting for GReddy to come out with their catback (I'm going to sell the Stillen muffler).

Cattman making it? Possible, but I don't know.

I don't know about kev but the way I see it. First I'ld have to take my factory pipe off and take it to them. that means I would have to get a rental. 2nd the way the pipe bends over the rear axle. I don't wanna take any chances of that thing hitting anything under the car. Thats what I think.

Not sure about the price yet... Don't know what the hold up for the GReddy is.

Ali basically explained it. I'm will to pay more and get something that was tested. Also, aren't there more welds (for connections) if the pipe was done by a shop?

I've recently talked with Brian Catts(Cattman Performance)and he sounded like they weren't planning on making a B-pipe. However, if enough people were interested he would probably try and make some. I'm meeting with him in person tommorrow, so I'll ask him how many people need to be interested before he would attempt to make a prototype. Plus, he's got dyno access, so he could determine if it adds anything but noise.

There's not a whole lot to test, Kev. It's basically just a pipe. And yes, there are more welds for connections. But if you go to a quality shop, that shouldn't be a problem. And welds can always be re-welded.

Yeah, it's a pipe... but I like the 3 year warranty and 50 state legal sticker that comes with their exhausts. I want something legal on my car.

For my 2000 SE, I had a custom cat-back mandrel bent pipe done with an Apexi RS muffler. This shop used a MIG arch welder, the strongest way to bond two metal pieces together.

Price:
Turbo Apexi RS Muffler 3": $175
(Last one sold at a local speedshop. I believe the new series is called Apexi WS, which uses the same principle design internally.)
Custom 2.5" B-pipe w/ glass packed resonator: $230

Total: $405

Sounds sweet and mellow but overly loud. I did noticed a major difference in performace and a small gain in mileage. Very smooth linear accelaration to redline.

Shop:
Valley Muffler & Radiator
13602 East Valley Blvd.
La Puente, CA 91746
(626) 336-4420

I understand. If it's any comfort to you, I already had my catback system installed when I went into my dealer to have my fuel-cut condition inspected. The Zone Rep noted EVERY mod on my car including my exhaust system and didn't bat an eye.

I'd say you're pretty safe doing whatever you want to do from the cat back. From the cat forward, however, is a different matter. I'd be WAY more concerned about a Y-pipe voiding a warranty than a catback system.

but I want to keep the factory exaust. just get rid of the B-pipe. my resonator hits the damn speed bumps sometimes .. I don't know.. if I get crazy Nuf then I'll just get a whole system. Find out from Brian Cattman how much he wants to build a B-pipe for the 2K

Do you still have the stock muffler?

If so I'd buy from you, drop me an email at Nismo87@swbell.net.
