What tails to run on a Sterling Mist?

Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about doing a taillight swap with a guy with a 2002 Maxima with the chrome style lights - I have a 2000 Maxima SE with the black surrounds... which light set-up do you think looks the best on a Sterling Mist Maxima? In all honesty I think they could have done a much nicer job on the 5th Gen's taillights - I'm totally leaning towards doing the swap to update the rear (car looks like a raccoon from the back with the black SE lights). Also, is there any way to mod the 02 chrome tails so that the lower signal portion is clear like the 00 black tails? Thanks for your help!

i have a 02 Sterling Mist Maxima and I actually like the black tails on Sterling Mist better but I won't trade mine because I have a GLE so that mean no spoiler..and if I get SE tails it will look weird to maxima enthusiasts (2% of the maxima population lol)

I just posted a thread like this a couple weeks ago: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=283552

There's a link about clearing out your whole tail in there. As far as clearing just the blinker, I remember someone did it. I just can't find the thread.

Yeah, I kinda like the black tails too. The clear ones are okay. The orange lens doesn't look that good to me. And with the AE headlights the black tails go with the scheme of things.

The Tail-light theory

You have to match your cars theme, If you have a SE no chrome moldings and blk or gunmetal rims go for the Blk 2k tails. (AE Headlights are a + w/ these)..... But if all your the moldings are chrome, and you just so happen to have chrome wheels its only common sense to go 2k2 tails THAT'S MY THEORY

Those black taillights are the best out of all of them. I cleared out the amber turn signal bulbs and it looks really cool.

I voted black. The clear (02+) just wouldnt look good on sterling mist, IMO.

Aren't all the black tails like that??? Do you mean you put different coloured bulbs in there? Does anyone know how to clear out the 02+ tails?
