Cleared out Amber blinker in 2k2-2k3 tails

A long while back I remember stumbling across a cardomain site of someone who cleared the amber blinker in their 2k2-2k3 tails. Has anyone on the org done this? I know opening the tails is no fun since they're pressure fit. Any how-to? What do you guys think of the Photoshopped result?

I'm liking it. Looks better than the ebay solid clear versions.

It's very tough to open them. Peeps have broken many sets trying. Best bet is to paint the amber red, or get the AE dark tails

cannot be done....playero has taken apart his tails to do the LED conversion and he showed me each piece separately. The red half circle/amber half circle makes up a complete circle and is made together and could possibly be dremeled separate but you'd have to replace it with something else because both pieces were manufactured as one complete piece

I'm currently in the process of painting the amber piece red. I tired with a heat gun for hours yesterday to get them apart. Its just not going to happen without breaking something. If you want red clears I'd say buy the all clear ones on ebay and paint the top half red.

It looks nice, but I like the stock ones better. I'm a fan of the stock 2k2 tails actually, dont see why so many people dont like the orange.

because it looks like a$$...especially on light colored cars...I dunno why in the world you would like it. Clear or red looks 100000% better

I thought that amber was removed by using photoshop? Correct me if I'm wrong.

It's photoshopped for sure!!

Look, the car, tree, mark on pavement are all at the exact same place!!

If not, this guy really know how to park at the exact same place 2 time in a row!!

Look much nicer that way!!

I'm in the process of clearing them out I think I figured out a way to do it. I just need some donor GXE tails or someone to sell them to me cheap. PM me if you have an extra pair.

Thanks

Once again, these tails cannot be opened without cutting them open. I've even tried myself on an old one, and proved it for myself awhile back.

The amber looks like crap....which is exactly why my first mod was to get
rid of the stupid amber sidemarkers....when it gets warmer out I'm getting rid of the amber in my headlights......and the taillights I'm still debating on getting the ebay clears and painted/modding them with red. Or maybe just leave all clear and put in some colored bulbs....<-----as I live in smalltown USA and the police don't nitpick about that stuff around here and neither is my mechanic.
My bro and I both have a vehicle with permanently tinted rear lights and they are really dark and look great and have passed inspection no questions. Heheh.

I haven't seen these before...

Why does it look like something is fishy here?

Sounds like he just painted the amber part red - but I'm not much for the clear stripe down the middle.

so it sounds like you pretty much gotta break the stock ones to get them out right? Then how hard is the install of the ebay ones?

you dont need to break them to get them off the car, you need to break them to open the tail light assembly once they are off the car. Installation of the ebay ones or any other tail lights is a piece of cake. I have ebay all clears on my Sunlit Sand, im searching locally cuz im trying to find Testors Candy Apple Red transparent paint so i can paint the top half red. ill let everyone know how it looks, if i dont like it ill just paint the whole circle red.

I cut out circles of red construction paper and taped them to the all clears to see how it looked. On the left i did the top half red, on the right i did the whole circle red. I think the top half red one matches better in silver cars, like in the first post of this thread, and also because i have a gxe which has no spoiler with red light to match the red part of the tails. I liked the whole circle red one on my car for those circumstances (paint and spoiler), but im still gonna try it with just the top half first, cuz i can always paint the bottom later.
