Stock Spring Rate

Please tell me somebody knows what the stock spring rate is!! I have been trying to figure out what the spring rate is for the H&R and all i could find was that they are 25-35 percent stiffer than stock. Anybody?

I've been trying to hunt down spring rates as well. So far, I only have three - and sorry, one of them isn't H&R. However, I'm guessing H&R and Eibachs have similar rates.

Rate F/R:
TEIN S-tech: 201/265
PROGRESS: 165 / 200
EIBACH: 500 / 450

Dude, are you sure Eibach Pro kit is that high ? IIRC Eibach's front is less than 200 lbs/in and the rear is less than 300 lbs/in. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

The Eibach numbers look awfully high to me too. I got them from Nate's cardomain site - so they aren't from the horse's mouth.

I'm positive that Eibach's rate is similar to Tein S-tech's numbers. I'll confirm with Eibach tomorrow because I'm curious myself.

According to the Eibach's tech support, the Pro Kit for 5th Gen is 188 - 201 lbs Front and 269 - 288 lbs rear. He also said that's about 15% stiffer than stock, which I think is more than that though.

yeah 15% percent seems a little low. everywhere i look i find that H&R is 25% stiffer than stock. i want to put the H-techs up front and H&R in the rear but i need to know what the spring rates are for either stock or H&R. H&R doesnt have an exact number they say and only do it by percantage.

H-techs seem to be 179lbs in front and and 286lbs in the rear (at least what i have found).

#edit# just want to get this straight as well, the lower the number means that they are not going to be as stiff. is that correct?

Why don't you just go with either H Tech or H&R ? The 5th Gen are known to have higher spring rate on the rear. I don't know how it might affect the handling characteristic if you change that ratio. If you want to even out the wheel gap, you can use Konis to do so, without cutting the springs at all. The Konis have 4 different height combination settings.

i most likely will just go with H-Tech. i just wanted an even drop that wasnt too low. so i figured since the H-Tech drop the front enough but not the rear enough, and H&R drop the rear enough but not the front enough, that i would just interchange them so i would get 1.6 up front and 1.3 in the rear. I figure if the H&R rear spring rates are close to the H-Techs rear spring rate, then i shouldnt have a problem.

right now i have the H&R and GR2s sitting in my room and H-techs are ordered and should be shipped on monday.

The rule of thumb for spring rates is higher rate in back gives less understeer or more oversteer (depending on car) and higher front rate gives more understeer so the ratio between front and rear sets the basic balance of the car.
