Installing Illumina struts! - What about bump stops and dust boots??

I'm getting fired up to install my Illumina/Progress combo (still in the mail), but I'm unclear on a couple details:
1. Can you reuse the bump stops and dust boots from the OEM struts?
2. How do you trim/install the bump stops?

Thanks guys!

1. Yes, you reuse your oem bump stops and dust boots.
2. When you get it all apart you will notice that at the top of the dust boot there is a thick rubber piece. This is the bump stop. You just need to make it thinner. I didn't trim my bump stops but I'm wishing that I did because I still hit the stops if I hit a big dip at high speed. I don't feel the fronts bottoming out but I can feel the rears. I'm going to go back in a trim mine when I get time. By the way, I've got H&Rs and Illuminas.

I really want a slew of pics of all this... if nobody has any I will try to remember to take lots of pics when I do mine.

Words just don't do it justice.

I have every intention of creating the mother of all how-to's when I do my strut/spring swap next week. I plan to really focus on the dust boot and bump stops since it seems no one has really documented these steps well.

That would be great and much appreciated.

My questions are more specifically related to EXACTLY which tools were used, and how much force was required to loosen/tighten the center nut... any problems you ran into, etc.

I do _NOT_ want to walk into this job without sufficient tools in case I get stuck (or the nut gets stuck, either way) and can't get the top nut off. This type of work is too dangerous to fudge around.

I have pics, they say the orange piece is the bump stop. But, I don't know where to cut ( the top or the bottom of the piece) and how much to cut.
please clear it out, I think alot of people is confused of the bump stop part/

What type of wrenches did you use to remove the top nut?
(type, size, trouble you had, etc)

top nut of strut? I used a breaker bar to losen it. It was on pretty tight. For rears, you need a deep socket. Forgot what size but it's smaller than the front ones
