Sorry to hear that. Do you think they towed it away or somehow got it started and drove it away? It will probably end up stripped or sold outside the US. I hope everything turns out all right.

He may not have gotten HIS car stolen from his garage but if I were you I wouldn't doubt cars being stolen from personal garages. My cousin had a tricked out Acura RSX Type-S and it WAS stolen right out of his garage.

Unfortunately that means nothing. It sucks because in brooklyn max's are stolen ALOT. And most of the time people steal them, then just dump then on the street. On a positive note defcon, now your going to get a check for your car, and have fun looking for a new one. Sorry to hear about your car though, maybe youll catch him through ebay when he goes to sell the only 2k2 headlights painted black with led angel eyes

More often than not they are stolen on the street...i.e.- less time consuming and risk than from a garage. I know people who now put in a steel pipe(s) in their garages that goes down into the ground (right behind the rear bumper)after the car is parked and the pipe is locked in place with a massive lock. Now the car cannot be backed out without first removing the pipe.......

It doesn't matter. I've heard of thieves that show up with a flat bed, slide some grease under the wheels and drag the car onto the truck and then they're gone.

I just had a crazy thought. I wonder if people with the data dots are just going to get their whole car stolen now just so the theives have more time and 'privacy' to get the lights out and then they'll part out the rest of the car as long as they've got it. HID theives maybe too small time for such an operation but who knows....

Also, does anyone know how hard it is to hotwire a Max with the immobilizer system or is the system a joke? (Please don't leave directions here on how to do it for the sake of our cars-I'm just looking for opinions from those who know.)

Not sure about the Autolock. The Club will probably slow the thief down by about 20 seconds or less. They exploit a weaker part of the setup. I won't go into it on this forum though. It's been shown on TV before by car thieves.

I've heard of thieves who set you car alarm off and wait for you to come outside and then ask you nicely for you keys.

It doesn't really matter what kind of anti theft system. If a thief really wanted to steal your car, they will steal your car.

Probably wouldn't work with me. If I hear mine going off, I usually assume that it's me who accidently set it off(which is usually the case) and then I turn it off remotely. Oh yeah, I always take a peek out the window to make sure it's OK. If I see anybody hovering close to it, I'd call the police first before going outside.

LOL.... Don't forget to make sure they ask you "nicely" for your keys before you actually give them up!!!

That sucks that your car got jacked.... Would you even want it back if the cops found it? A friend of mine had her Jeep Cherokee stolen a few months back, and even after it was repaired at the body shop she's been having problems with the electronics, tranny and all kinds of new rattles.

Speaking of towing thefts.... Take a look at this recent article in the Jersey Journal:

Cars Stolen for $45 a POP....

These morons were stealing perfectly good cars and selling them to a wrecking yard for the price of "one" PIAA Xtreme White bulb!!!!

Sorry to hear that they stole your car. The only way a thief is going to get away with my max is with a flat bed. I dont care if they have the key to the car or not. I built a one of a kind security system into my max that will kill the fuel pump and the power to the ecu after the car is running for 45 seconds. The only way to disarm the system is to press the correct sequence of window / door lock buttons on the drivers door after you start the car and before the 45 sconds are up. There is no audible alarm the thief will have no clue the car is going to shutoff in 45 seconds so he will just take it and drive off. 45 seconds later the car will die in the middle of the road and the audiable alarm will go off and the lights will flash. The system can only be reset after a full 5 minute wait if you even know how to reset it. No theif is stupid enough to stick around when the car dies in the middle of the street and starts blinking its lights and the audible alarm goes off.

That's always a possibility. In that case, they won't ask nicely for your keys, they will demand them.
