Goodbye Max Org. 2000SE Loaded

Well on Sunday 02-22 I traded in my Max Loaded 60k leather a few dings a few scratches a list of things I really didnt like about the car. Despite that i loved the performance and the looks. The dealer gave me 12,500 trade in. Just so you dont think im a total trader i traded it in for a 2004 Nissan Sentra S. By the time you calculated the trade in the $2500 rebate and the tax savings they owed me a couple bucks. Thanks to all for there help in the past.

Huh? you went from a Maxima to a Sentra, talk about taking 10 steps downwards.

I went from a 96 Protege to a Maxima and i swear i will never turn back to a small compact car again. I can't see it happening.

Not a good move at all I would rather have a 2000 SE Max over any sentra any day.

Yeah, if he got into a new car w/ warantee and $0 /mo car note, he11 no one can argue with that. Especially if you are trying to do something else with your cash, or at school. I say, if it worked out for him Good Job!

Every month around the 20th I wish I could do the same.....

Given the car is a 2000, i would assume the car is already fully paid for.

Wow.. and a SENTRA out of all things, i would have traded it in for a MAZDA 3, my gf has one and is by far the BEST car for the money. Even better than a maxima..

To each, his own. Personally, there are other better subcompacts that I'd get over the Sentra.

Good luck Rad.

Its funny because from what I have seen the 00/01's at retail price are selling at pretty good high prices private or dealer. Judging by his trade in price his will seel for a good price on the lot as well.

Geez, I would never done that. I never go back down from a Maxima to whatever unless there is something that has everything what a Maxima has but has to have one of something extra that a Maxima don't have. I don't think there is a better car than a Maxima has to offer.

The only problem I have with the deal is the trade in amount. You could have sold the car to a private party for much more and then bought whatever you like. Never trade a car into a dealer unless it is so messed up that you would not be able to let a potential buyer test drive it.

Good luck with the new car.

I can't believe that I would read all these hate comments form so-called nissan fans. Whatever his motives were could be beyond anyone's imagination. Well at least he's brand loyal.

sentras SUCK big time... especially these new ones ***-sembled in mexico!
I have had a few, and the oldest (93, made in jap, imulti-link rear susp and such) was the best of them but still... I'm not afraid to say this but sometimes i drive a 98 integra which is twice as good as any sentra...

Wow..Maxima to a Sentra....Not unless the max was really messed up because the sentra was about $12,500 and all you get is a newer but not as good car. I went from a 93 max SE to 99 Durango 5.9 to an 03 Max SE to a Bimmer X5. You go up...not down!

Whatever reason you had going from Maxima to Sentra, best of luck w/ your sentra. At least make it fast as hell.

Simply put, i have driven numerous maximas, and owned both a 2k2 and now a 2k3.

My gf's Mazda 3 is only the middle model and its LOADED up the @SS with options, including rain-sense wipers!!

I hear that in the states you can get HID's and also tire pressure monitors.

ITs a great bang for the buck honestly, and if i need to buy a cheaper car, it would be a mazda 3.

I looked at the sentra,

NO RESALE VALUE (typical like most nissans)
UNDERPOWERED - even with the 2.5L its still grossly slow
REALLY REALLY SMALL
INterior/Exterior appearance is two thumbs down
and PRICING... They want way too much for very little options.

A friend of mine was selling a 1993 Sentra SE-R...

Only my wife kept me from buying it (as a commuter)

I've put 27,770 miles on my 2003 SE. I need something else to drive to keep from racking up the miles...

but to trade my 03 SE for even a new Sentra? not this guy...

That was part of my problem with my max racking in miles. worrying about scratches and dents. the car was a 9 out 10 on a scale. I tried to sell it privately for $13,400. No takers and out another $65.00 on the ad. By the way the car was loaded every option 12,500 was still $600.00 over book you also have to factor in the tax savings on a trade in add another $1000.00 here. Also I had a minor accident with it and it just wasnt the same. P.S. some how it came up clean on the carfax so it was time to act. given the $2500 rebate the great price i recieved.MEN IT WASNT AN EASY DECISION BUT I JUST NEEDED A BEATER COMMUTER CAR GOOD QUALITY GAS MILEAGE. one i wont cry over every nick.
P.S.S. still like the 95 to 99 style the best.

i know but so many people recently have whined about dealers only giving them 8-10k for 2000 with 55k+ so it def seemed like a good price.

kbb.com gives it a 10500 trade in.

I hear ya bro, that why we kept our old 89 Maxima in great shape BTW. We both use it especially in bad weather to save miles and fit and finish on our 03 Max and 350. The 3.5's are addicting to drive although, the 89 rides and takes bumps like a caddy.

I just don't understand not wanting to put miles on a car. Heck, just buy a Max and never take it out of the garage. Not like it will ever be a collectors car or anything, nor appreciate in value due to rarity.

I guess I buy cars and trucks I like to drive and then drive them I do, ALOT. My '97 Ram has 110,000 on it and the Max just passed the 50,000 mark. I would rather enjoy the drive than drive something less just to keep miles off another car. Now if it was a rare car you could not easily replace, etc. I can see a different perspective.

Just my .02...

You have to account for the God complex here. Then again imagine if 350Z owners said that ALL Maximas suck.

I'm actually considering one...
It might not be as great as the 2k2/3 Maxima, but it at least it would be brand-new and under full warranty.

With 160hp it should be quick enough, considering it's a small car. It looks great, but fully-loaded with options can make it pricey, for what it is (low $20k). Still, it's a sweet car....but I'm not sure it's "better" than the Maxima.

I agree completely....I personally will never go down to a 4-cyl again..."there's no replacement for displacement" is so true!

That said, if I did, I'd get the Mazda 3s....my wife got one as soon as they came out (one of the first ones in the DC area, so the dealer said), and I must say it's very nice....good power for a 4 (165 stock) and it feels quick, albeit without the torque of the maxima, I looked at test times and it's almost as fast as the 3.0 5th gen...also looks good outside and inside...

I test drove the 3 (160 hp) and it was SWEET. Handles like a dream, plus you can get just about any options you want. Nice car but I'd miss my V6....

My wife's 3s 4-door has everything except leather and heated seats and sunroof, otherwise its loaded and has the big engine and 17's and xenons...she got it for around 17k. The 5-door costs about 2k more for some reason. Considering I pretty much pay for the 3s as well as the max, I think it's a great deal.

By the way, it is interesting that her insurance with the 165hp Mazda 3 is now LESS than it was the month before with her 2k Jetta 1.8 (about 120hp I think).....
