Emission Warranty????

Can anyone help me clarify the Federal Emissions Long Term Defect warranty?

On page 8 of my warranty manuel it says the ECU and Catalytic converters are covered for 96 months/80,000 miles.

Why can't I get the service department to understand this??

My SES light is throwing the P0420 code and according to the TSB the ECM need reprogramed with a new P/N. Dealer wants me to pay $134 ($67/hr x 2hr) to have this done. OR if it is not under the TSB $600 or $700 for a new catalytic converter!!!

Was this LONG TERM defect an additional warranty?

She typed my VIN into her computer and it was not listed...the only Fed. emission warranties listed ended @ 24,000 and 36,000.

I would like to get more documentation from Nissan about these two parts that are "covered for 96 months or 80,000 miles"

ANYONE???

the documenation is a federally mandated warranty. this is a copy from the EPA site. i am not sure if you have an outdated tsb but the most recent i saw for P0420 states to flash the ecu but not to replace the part like the old tsb stated. if you are having issues with your dealer, call 800-nissan1 and let them know the code you pulled and how your dealer is trying to charge you for something that is covered under a federally mandated warranty for emission parts.

toyota will not be able to do it, because they do not use the consult 2. it is a nissan/infiniti deal.
