H&R Springs with stock shocks and struts?

Can I get H&R springs put on my Max and keep the stock struts and shocks? Looks like doing the springs only is going to be about $500 after alignment, so I really can't afford to do the shocks at the same time, any info that you can provide would help, thanks.

err the whole setup of springs with struts should not be more then 600$.... if u get H&R's for 180 and you can get blue tokicos for $300 shipped on ebay....that leaves you 120$ for allignment/installation

probably good at the beginning while the struts/shocks are still not worn with the new springs. As you put more miles, you probably loose performence depends what kind of spring you put.

H&Rs are the softest for 5th gens...its also the most expensive

i drove for some time H&R springs + 2000 factory struts in 96 (!) maxima... every bump / road imperfection is yours; performancewise... the car just flies on the freeway; feels very confident and well-controlled.

Ran about 25,000 KMS on mine and my struts are bouncing like no tommorrow.

Its fine for teh first 10,000 then it just really gets soft.

I am going to redo it with new struts soon, it just feels so sloppy right now..

I would save your stock shocks for when you sell your max and get the kyb gr-2s which would last much more longer than the stockers with lowered springs. I have the kyb/h&r on my 97max, and after 100k, it still performs great, i like this setup so much I installed them on my 02se.

Ok, I will go with the H&R- I want better handling but not a harsh ride, now between the Kyb and the Tokico's, what are the price differences and ride differences? Anyone had experience with both?

I've got Tokico Illuminas with my H&Rs and that's what I would recommend. But, if you don't want to spend that much, from what I've heard the KYB GR-2 is a better match for H&Rs than the Tokico blues.

H&R Suspension Set up

The KYB-GR2s are awesome with the H&R Springs. I replaced the Koni Adjustable/Ground Control Coilover set up and the difference is night and day. The roads here in Key West are one of the worst I've ever driven on. The coilovers make the ride even harsher here. Although I would have to say the appearance is awesome with the coilovers and the handling is remarkable over stock and the H&R setup. I rather have the comfort and knowing my car isn't taking a beating with the H&R/Kyb GR2 set up though.

I would highly recommend the H&R/KYB GR2 set up. I purchased everything on ebay for about $419.00 shipped to my door. I did the install myself. IMO, I think it was a very inexpensive price to replace the whole suspension system.

Sorry...the alignment cost $35.00.
