I dont think I can explain this any better than Dave B did a while back when this question was raised. He knows what he is talking about, so I will just quote him:

“Depends on what you're definition of "best" is. If it means cheap price and low drop, then yes the Tein/Sprints are the best on the market. If you're talking about all around performance, then no, they're probably the worst. A 2.2" drop in the front and 1.6" drop in the rear gives you about .6-.7" of wheel travel before all the coils hit each other (bottoming out) or the bumpstop contacts the strut housing (assuming you cut the bumpstops 50-70%).
Read any performance handling handbook and you'll see that "low" doesn't equal good handling. The right spring rate, the correct damper, good wheel travel, and just enough lean is what makes a supreme handling car. In 1 year, you'll be wondering why your Teins are riding horribly and why you're bouncing all over the place. It will because your struts are blown. You'll have the image of looking fast, but that's all it will be...an image.
The best handling springs are H&R/Eibachs with adjustable Koni or Illuminas. The reason most people don't like these is because they don't drop enough. Well, the Maxima doesn't have a ton of wheel travel to begin with and the these quality spring companies know that. You get what you pay for with these springs.
If you want low, then JIC FLTs ($1500-1700) are the only way to go. You can have a pretty extreme drop and still keep most of the stock wheel travel because JIC uses shortened sturt housings which increase travel. Again, you get what you pay for.
I'm not here to make enemies with this post, but some of us know better and I just want people to be clear on what they're buying into. It's always better to research and pay a little more upfront to get the quality part. You'll see what I'm saying. I too tried going to the cheap way on numerous things on my car and I've pretty much wasted about $1500. I know better now.
Dave”

That should clear things up for you.

I got a set I'm putting on next month (Eibachs). Is that drop plain Eibachs or were they modified? Just wanted to know because I was thinking of chopping 1 coil off the fronts, but if it is going to look like that without touching it than I'm gonna leave them alone!

Ok, when you say they are BETTER, I assume you mean they look really really low. Because they are NOT better for performance. If you want performance, then Tein S-Tech are the WORST springs you can possibly buy. Dave B explained this clearly and concisely. He is absolutely right. If you can show me that teins are better for PERFORMANCE I will sell my eibachs immediately and purchase some teins.

And Eibachs dont look stock, not that i care since i bough springs for performance and not looks. Here is a link with pics of my eibachs/illumina set-up. Scroll down for pics. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=280224

yea, its hard to say which spring is better than the other.

i believe the teins have a higher spring rate and give a lower drop

I have experienced Eibach, Teins(S-Tech) & H&R's, I like the ride/ drop on my Teins compared to the ride/drop on my Eibachs, all set ups had Tokico blues, the Eibach ride was definitely a kidney puncher (harsh). The Teins ride really good and have a nice drop. The H &R's had the best ride quality; however the drop was non existent 1.6 & 1.2, if I remember correctly, also the car had the rear end sag look.

Which Tein's are you talking about? The H-tech or the S-tech? I'm considering the H-tech because it will "even" out the car without the rear sag look.

I llike my setup, Eibachs with KYBGR2's. It's not harsh at all IMO. I guess it all depends on what you are looking for though. I like the drop, and there is not a real noticable difference in front and rear....unless stare at it for a while...

There are no springs that go lower than tein. So long as you want looks and not performance go for it. When you buy eibachs or h&rs you are paying for quality performance. Tein s techs provide a slammed look at the expense of performance handling.

At the start of spring I am going to be installing my Eibachs and Illuminas. I was debating whether to get Teins or stick with the Eibachs, and ultimately I decided to go with the Eibachs because I am looking more towards handling performance than a real slammed car. I live in NY and there are way too many potholes and cratters that I don't wish to fall into while driving around. Plus the Eibachs are low enough for my tastes. While Teins do look very hot, I am not cool with bottoming out all over the place.

What is the weight difference between 2k2/2k3 vs. 2k/2k1?

I am assuming that the 5.5 gen. gained weight and mostly on the front end. However the Eibach springs are the same for the both. This could be why the Eibachs drop more and look better on the 5.5 gen when compared to the 5th gen.

by saying 5.5, I meant the 2k2/2k3 with the 3.5 liter, as opposed to the 2k/2k1 wi the 3.0 liter.

That looks hot man..............I can't wait til I put my Eibach's and Illumina's on next month. Was there anything else changed on the suspension to make it look that good( cut coil). I know I asked one of the other orgers on this thread the same question but I thought I saw some other 5th gens. that didn't look that sweet.

I want to get teins, but don't know if I should get H-tech or S-tech. All I know is that the H-tech is bit more expensive than S-tech. Should I get S or H? Check out my page to see my car on hydros...
