Car feels different.. ???
It can be a number of things. For me, it's usually the difference between bad and good fuel. I won't even attempt to run anything below 91 in my car anymore, and coming from someone who lives in california (home of $2.30/gallon premium), that's saying a lot.
OBD-II! It's not like the old days where ECU's only had one fuel map. As you all know the ECU's are getting harder and harder to crack. The reason being is that they are more and more sophisticated than ever. The current crop of cars that use the CAN bus (controller area network) are extremely hard to modify (when I mean modify I mean past bolt on basics). You will see more and more tuner cars that will be running stand alone engine management.
All of the tuners that I talk to are complaining about the cars because of the problem you are describing. They tune them, they run great one day, then the ECU decides to throw in another map and it's running like crap again. A few days later, it's good again.
But on a good note, stand alone ECU's are getting WAY cheaper now. IMO the best on the market is the HKS Fcon-V Pro, it's about 1/2 the price of a MOTEC or Haltek, but has all of the features that you would need to tune a car reliably.
Look at all of the "bolt on" turbo kits for new cars nowadays. The better ones all incorporate some sort of ECU piggy back to compensate for the locked down setting on newer cars. Say goodbye to the old pump and regulator days........

You would need:
The unit
MAP sensor
IAT (may be able to use the stock one)
Expect to pay ~$800-1500 for labor and tuning. One thing is that you would have to hardwire the V-Pro because they don't make a harness for our cars. They have the info on the HKS website.
Haa!

OMG! This gotta be my quote of the day... This is just waaayyy too funny. Kudos to you, sir!
Mine felt that way and resetthe ECU by unplugging the neg terminal of the battery over night, the next day when I drove it it felt a tad quicker and shifted a little different. BTW how long does it take to adjust to your driving pattern?
I have the same thing going on...sometimes super fast..sometimes it feels really slow. Can't figure it out. Gas totally affects it, for sure. I had a ******* put 87oct in it down in Portland (even after I said fill it with 92) and the car ran like crap almost through the entire next tank of 92. This car is really picky.
