BLew My MAF sensor

well after my car being in the body shop for a week and a half and finally get my car back today ....i had a bad feeling about something and sure enough a turn the corner and press the gas and there goes my MAF Sensor

this **** sucks.....i couldnt even enjoy my car for 15 seconds...now i have to either put my stock intake box back on and leave my car at the dealership or try and find an MAf sensor part # ending with AM600

anyone know of a salvage yeard near by that might have one... i would like dealer to be a last resort i dont trust them

for the 5.5 gen they dont sell jsut eh sensor and the 100 sensor that DAVEB sells doesnt work for the 2k2s-2k3s beacuse those 2k1 sensors dont ahve air temp sensors built in

ps now my car start but then stalls right after is that normal??

You dont have to worry about not having the air temp thing on the 2k1 maf. Ive already had and fixed that problem w/o spending anymore money. read this thread.

is your car still under warranty? why can't you have the maf sensor replaced by the dealer? (you can try another dealer)

Is the MAF sensor covered by our 3/36 warranty? If so...then is it covered by the 60k engine/tranny warranty?

Edit: Another question....After reading that other thread that PHXBlue posted about the following picture:

Does this mean we can order the $80-$100 part from Dave B. and run the 2k1 MAF sensor without a problem on the 02 if we just switch that little wire over? Or am I missing something?

PhxBlue = Bad A$$! I ordered my intake as well, and am almost resigned to the fate of blowing maf(s). Thanks for the headsup. If something does happen, it wont be as expensive to remedy.

BTW, Im saving the AZ Max thread and this thread on the computer for reference.

Love the org.

Wow nice, this is good stuff... (I don't have a 2k2+ but it's great for advising people who do and blow their MAF)

How can we get in contact with Dave B? I just got a Berk intake and if I blow my MAF I have a 50 mile round trip to work and I don't want to be stranded on the highway.

I have blown up 5 of my 01 MAFs in my 01 Maxima GXE 5spd with a Place Racing CAI, I have 3 spare ones- with one in the car at all times. I had Nissan repleace 3 of them under warranty, and I had to shell out 54 bux each for the damn sensor. The whole sensor assembly is around 120 bux if I remember correctly. Nissan has a new housing the MAF sits in that I belive has no screen or has a screen in it. I WOT my car every chance I get, no MAF problems since I got the new redesigned housing and sensor piece. But I don't wanna jinx myself into being on the side of the road tomorrow with a blown MAF and switching it out...... The no.4 one that blew wouldn't even lemme start the car. Part # for the 01 MAF is 22680-AD210.

When my MAF blew, I took it to the dealer. I had about 40,000 miles on the car and they told me that Nissan issued a TSB for the MAF and that it was covered up until 50,000 miles.
You might want to try calling just to see.

MAF is part of the emissions warranty, which in terms is part of the powertrain warranty- which is 5/60K. I'm way past that on my 01 Max. Plus my cars are known by this dealer- cause I worked there, so they know how beat up shiat gets by me. I had like 3 or 4 covered under warranty, I know I'm runing a 6th MAF now- for about 8 months now... knock on wood it lasts.
