Just dynoed

I just dynoed my AE. I have no Performance mods yet, waiting on everything to come in, but i dynoed at 159.9 HP and 187.9 for the torque. I hope that is average, if not plese let me know.

Thanks,
Josh

Looks on the low side of average (for an auto). Most cars bring in 160-190. Near 190 for the manual folks.

How many miles do you have on your car? And when's the last time you did any maintenance? Peace_

It is a five speed, and it was a little shop. That is the first time Ive ever been to dyno, and they had a big industrial fan blowing in front of the car. Did that play a factor maybe?

I wouldn't worry about the dyno, could be lots of reasons.

Do you have aftermarket wheels, is the dyno calibrated, did you adjust for standard temp and pressure, do you need to change your oil or have a heavier weight, and so on.

Nah. The factor would've been what gear you did it in The fan is there to try to replicate highway cooling. Peace_

I just had the oil changed but I do have 18's (235/40/18). I havent had any service besides oil change. I just hit 50k on the speedo. The dyno shop mainly deals with Porsche and and Porsche race cars. I guess it is calibrated, I dont know.

3rd gear, maybe thats why it wasnt that good. After I get my intake, exhaust and pulley on I will go back and dyno in 3rd gear. Maybe once in 4th just to see the difference from today. Thanks for all the input.

You never cease to amaze me. Where do you brew up this false information?
3rd gear has a 1.272 gear ratio and 4th has 0.954. According to my math, i would think 4th is closer to 1:1 ratio. But maybe in igorworld 1.272 is actually closer to 1:1.

4th was the correct gear to dyno in. Only reason people dyno in 3rd is to not put so much load on the car through multiple runs on the dyno. No need to run it in 4th while tuning. You can do all the tuning in the world on the lower gears, and then make some final runs in 4th to get your most accuarate #s.

From all the info I say it may have been the tire/wheel combo.

Next time if you have the stock wheels swap them on the front and see if this changes your numbers.

I dynoed my 01 GXE 5spd STOCK with stock steel 15" wheels and hubcaps on it at 194.5WHP and torque I don't remember. I dynoed mine ona DynoJet, U sure they didn't use a Mustang Dyno ? Or Dynapack ? The type of Dyno they use makes the BIGGEST Diff. I try to stick to DynoJets.

you must have the strongest 00-01 ever. I have seen dozens of dynos and fully modded 00-01's aren't even seeing that high of numbers 5spd or Auto. Is the dyno sheet available?

I dynoed at air cooled classics in Knoxville, TN. They deal mainly with Porche and porches set up for race only. I have no performance mods yet, just wanted to see where I was before anything goes on. I just thought it was a little low. But maybe its beacause of the cali emissions. Just a thought.

Dynojet 248C is the dyno I do my tuning on, its a awesome dyno, and if its calibrated right it should post the same #s within like 5HP no matter if U are in NYC or SoCal. Do U know the settings they used on the dyno ? it should say right on your print out, when does the HP curve start to drop ? without the VIS the engine will stop pulling around 5000RPM, and power will start to tapper off.
